Guys - I got the GD65 Z77 board 3 weeks ago for a new build and love it. Absolutely stable board, nice temps, decent layout, cool colors - couldn't ask for more. Only thing I'm finding a bit annoying is the long POST time. It takes about ~ 25-30 seconds to display on the on-screen LED codes, then the BIOS splash screen. By comparison it takes about ~10 seconds to load up Win7 on my SSD. Any way to speed up POST times? It's my only real gripe with this board.

Just posted this in the BSOD code thread..wanted to drop it here since it has been mentioned.

"Think I just stumble across something while beating my head against the keyboard during OC stable session...

Code 0x7F could be a system agent voltage increase is needed

I BSOD during a run and that was about the only thing I didn't touch yet. So I tried bumping it once and got a little further in my stable run but BSOD again with the same code. I bumped it again and so far I'm an hour stabl......well just crashed as I was writing this lol. Wasn't at the computer so can't verify BSOD since I don't have a catcher installed. Upped the core voltage .05 more and we will see. I still think the code is valid due to being stable for 40-45 minutes longer than I was without the SA bump. SA is linked to the IMC if I remember reading correctly. If anyone else is experiencing this code give it a go and write back =). Thanks"

Although Im sure you already have done this, but make sure anything extra that you don't need, thats integrated, is turned off. Maybe have a look at Seans Windows 7 Install for SSDs thread?

I was playing around with POST time on my z77 gd65 yesterday, maybe watch the debug LED & see where it hangs & find what you can do to speed it through a bit faster, although it is just seconds. Booting as I usually use the system was about 30 seconds, enabling the splash screen & pulling USB drives, disabling bios features I don't use & disabling windows services I don't need got it to 19 seconds.
I did end up with a reboot time of 14 seconds, although I was taking a hit in overall performance to get it there & wouldn't normally use the machine that way.

Yeah, I used Sean's guide when I installed my SSD. Think I have most everything disabled that I want disabled. Subjective (not stopwatch) restart time is ~ 20 seconds; subjective bootup time is ~ 25 seconds. Sure it's not crazy but it's a little frustrating when maybe 70% of my bootup time is just the board POSTing and BIOS spinning through checks.

Just read information about C3/C6 states being enabled can negatively effect SSD read/write performance. Not sure if maybe this will get you to your desktop faster but might be worth a try.

Just ordered the GD65 openbox from Newegg, first non-ASUS board ever. Here's hoping XD

Never played around with this, but as far as I know it's about power-saving states when the CPU's idling, right? I will take a look at that when I get my graphics card (sold one, waiting on delivery for a 670 FTW). Which section of the BIOS is it in?
