Hi guys, I have problem with Z77A-GD80, switch bios A is normal but when I tried to flash to switch bios B (I turned switch to B first, ofcourse) then it failed at the middle of flashing and causing my mobo cannot boot even to bios post/bios menu... debug error is 3b then F2 or F9 (I forgot). GD80 doesnt has auto flashing recovery bios like GD65 frown.gif so when it failled flash then I think its over, right? Have to rma it. Btw bios switch A is normal.
Note : I flashed with bootable USB FD but failed at the middle flashing, is it because I set AHCI and not IDE to my HDD setting?? or I think my RAM is not stable at default system (funny I always set to defaults all my system when try to flash bios), the only method flashing that works for mysystem is M-Flash via bios menu.

Problem has solved smile.gif
What caused I had black screen in the middle of flashing was : my LCD samsung 2233SW behaviour, it automatically turns to be black screen after 20 - 30 seconds in DOS mode, no matter I'm flashing or just don't do anything in DOS mode. And I have to press Auto detect signal on my LCD panel then screen comes back again biggrin.gif

Yup I thought I was failing in flashing so I turned off my PC and cause broken/error in switch B (BIOS B), the solution is :
Try to run with switch A (BIOS A) that works normal and from there I just have to run flasher with MSI HQ USB FD Flashing tool since other method didnt work out. While at the flasher's menu I need to switch (on mobo) to switch B (BIOS B) and then flash it.... finally my BIOS B is works normal again thumb.gif thanks to MSI HQ forum for guiding me to fix my BIOS.

Note : This happened while I was trying to flash switch B (BIOS B).

Update : Sorry I was wrong in writing at "Try to run with switch B (BIOS A) ..." It should be "Try to run with switch A (BIOS A)..." smile.gif

Glad you got it sorted! And a funny coincidence today, similar to yours. I just got one of the cheap Catleap monitors and was running it for the last day or so. Seemed fine. Then I decided to flash the BIOS on my MSI Lightning video cards. Seemed fine. Then went to do a benchmark to see if the flash made a difference, and thought the system had crashed to blackscreen. But it wasn't coming back, at all. Finally determined the power supply of the Catleap had quit, but you can imagine the thoughts going through my mind while nothing was coming up on the screen.

More of an on-topic thought...

My Z77A-GD65 is doing mostly fine, I flashed the BIOS to 10.5 thanks to your directions, working fine. OC'd my i7 3770K to 4.5Ghz with multipliers, not Turbo, very stable and not too hot.

But still, maybe once every 12 cold boots, it will either need to have the power button repeatedly pressed or in extreme situations will need the power cable disconnected until the "Power" button on the MB goes dark (maybe every 50th boot?). Then it will boot right up. Usually I hit the button and it goes right off, but not 100% of the time. Very strange.

Well, I just ordered this board, along with a 256GB M4, and another 8GB Vengeance RAM (overkill I know, but these are black sticks that will look great on this board with the blues I already have!).

Looking forward to doing a full unboxing when I get it!

This is only an opinion.
Your OEM WIndows 7 key is tied to the first hardware that you installed it on.
My guess is the key will detect the new motherboard and it could tell you that the hardware change doesn't comply with your license agreement.

No you dont.
Yes OEM is "bound" to 1 computer, but when you buy a new one you just activate the key and it might say that the key was already used, and you get a number to a automatic phoneservice which you call and input few digits that comes up in your windows.
And basicly activate it over the automatic phone, very easy to do.

And can do that all the time with OEM windows 7 when you buy new stuff.

No problem Charlie thumb.gif what do you mean by cold boots? It won't boot at all or just do on - off - on - off without able to get to desktop?
