**Official** MSI Z77A Owners/Discussion/Information/Support Thread and Club (GD65, GD55, G45, ...) - Page 4

I finally got to try out the 3770k with z77a-gd65 last night, the board can take some vcore & still lives. The gd-55 was fine on phase cooling, but died after mounting the ln2 pot on it. I should have a z77a-gd80 on the way soon as well, won it in a benching competition.

Really don't know what happened to the gd-55, worked fine on phase, then mounted the pot & it was dead (couple days in between, board was dry). Mosfets look fine, insulation wasn't an issue since i didn't get it frozen. I start up at stock & start pulling the temps down, it just never POSTed at ambient temp all stock.
Only thing I can think of is over tightening the pot, didn't seem too snug but not sure what else it could have been.

With Overclocking I will only use a GD65 or GD80 for the very purpose as both boards have got the advanced Bios II's that you Guys know about anyways, Just the GD55 is quite a BIT lower Price wise, and can be tempting to go for the much lower priced boards, if you feel your going to fry them anyways.. lol - nope only the GD65 will do, tho, I also have a G45 Board ATM, and they are decent value for money if you know where to purchase... at the right price we can buy in the UK @ £95.00 GBP for G45 and £150.00 GBP for the GD65 BIG DIFFERENCE.

take care, you guys (Geeker) Good-Luck...

The gd55 wasn't my first choice, but needed an MSI 1155 board to get in on the MOA & the gd55 was the only 1155 board that could be had in time for the elimination date. Finally got some MSI x79 boards & the gd65 in stock for the last week. The 7970 lightning would have made a difference for me as well but still none available a week after it's over. Hopefully next year MSI will make products available in time for the biggest MSI sponsored overclocking competition of the year, using the reference card got me close, but still 93 points in 3dmark 11 from winning the ticket to Taiwan for the finals...

Anyway.. I got a problem.. I tried to OC'ing my computer this morning, and it works fine, for a while (about 30 -45 minutes) and then when i'm planning to watch movie, suddenly it rebooted.
FYI, i'm trying to oc into 4500 and then it happens. But it works fine when i'm oc with OCGenie into 4200. Any help?
