Seems like that would have been the event to announce the 690.

I doubt that's the case given that the 680 4gb is already listed for sale on quite a few sites, and the announcement is supposedly 'big news'.

My bet is on the 660/670 as well, despite the rumors from Overlockers.co.uk about a 6 month wait.

PARTNERSHIP WITH: ?
  1. Apple - Soured already from the recent past, so no.
  2. Samsung - I don't think they need Nvidia for any of their lines except possibly mobile cigar.gif
  3. Intel - The outright question of the year is how fast does Intel want to dominate in the GPU workspace? Is a 10% per year improvement in Integrated GPCPU enough?
  4. China - Providing graphics for the new $600 gaming console. wheee.gif subsidised by US taxpayer money sozo.gif

I would generally think this as well, but is it really new-worthy to the extent that there's hype generated about it like this? That's what leaves me thinking it's something else.

Why would 670/660 be considered "big GPU news"?
Anyone else think this will be targeted more to the mainstream, like a partnership with a company, or a new mobile GPU for laptops/ultrabooks/tablets?

The only reason a CEO would speak is to get the attention of stockholders and give them good news to keep them investing.. so it must be something that has mass appeal to the general public (like I said, laptops/ultrabooks/tablets or a partnership) rather than us select few enthusiasts on OCN and other hardware forums

I sincerely hope that's the case, but i very much doubt it given that Quadro cards are traditionally hugely underpowered compared to GeForce cards frown.gif
