I need some help here and will write a summery later on. This is often overlooked and reading about finding bad chips after overclocking and voiding the warranty for the chip. I am planning on testing my fx-6100 before overclocking it to see any problems and need advise on what to do and what programs I need to use to test a chip at stock settings. First would be stress testing it. I also read about leakage and would like to also see if I can test this. If my chip fails these tests I plan on getting it exchanged.

Just run prime95 with 90% ram or IBT on max if you want to know if your cpu is stable at stock settings.

Got my system build and running looks good so far max temp torture test with prime95 was around 44c measured with ASRock utility another program only shows 30ish. My corsair h-100 did not even spin to max fan speed. Things look good so far.

I would imagine its pretty darn rare to find a retail chip that isnt even stable at stock settings. Maybe when they first came out, but its been a few months now and im sure glitches like that were ironed out real quick.

Think its time for you to start pushing that puppy thumb.gif

You got nothing to worry about when it comes to temps. The H100 should have no problem cooling that chip at any reasonable OC (4.6-4.8).

Instakked AMD Overdrive today to get info so far. Ran prime95 at the maz temp torture test setting for a bit and got 25.4c for core tempuratures and TMP1 of bouncing around 53.4 and up to 53.4 at times. Trying to figure out if my cooling is working as I plan on adding two side pannel fans to feed the cooler. Hows that look
