Just upgraded to 8GB - Quick question

Thread Starter
I just upgraded from 4GB to 8GB of RAM. I was wondering if there is anything I need to do in Windows to optimize the change. I've never messed with my page file, not sure if I should. Any tips? Thanks!

may seem like a silly question but do you have a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows?

Makes a difference as if you only have the 32Bit version you won't actually be able to use the extra RAM you just added due to memory addressing limitations in 32Bit OS.

Otherwise you shouldn't need to make any changes.

I'd disable hibernation if you don't use it. If you haven't already smile.gif
Just open the command prompt and

powercfg /hibernate off

Thanks guys! I wasn't sure if I would be messing with any page file settings at all so I figured I would ask. I never did use hibernate before, why disable when it comes to 8GB?

Because its always the same size as your ram, so it would hog 8gb on your ssd
