You can have a decent gaming pc for under $500.00 easy. With the extra budget you have, you should be able to afford one that will last for years and years to come, you came to the right place.

there are some other good air coolers for alternatives too...i picked up a scythe ninja off newegg open bo and would highly recommend it.

NZXT Havic is good as well. mounting system is pretty user friendly which is nice.

I havent used the X4's but I cant definetly see they have gone down in quality since the 3 series, the Lifetime series is solid though i've seen just as many CWT/FSP units die. Even if a X4 dies, it still has a lifetime warranty.

Wow great feedback so quickly! The only reason I listed the cooler master was I already had it (new in box).

figure I will get the better PSU after the virtually unanimous feedback-
Corsair Pro 650W modular, keep the other as emergency backup or toss in a rig for the kids.

Was REALLY mulling over a 2600k Sandy rig-but I saw lots of feedback over the forums that said 3570k-IVY is way to go if there is not need to O/C extreme...
seems to be alot of debate, I don't mind taking a "little" risk in jumping into newer bridge.I will def look at the air cooled solution since I don't plan to run this higher than 4.0 (at least til I know more) but last rig I built 5 years ago had good luck with liquid cooling- H80 ancestor. My air cooling builds of old all seemed to suffer fan failure (even top line-for thier time--) after 12-18 months. Maybe they have gotten more robust since 6 years ago...(sigh i am getting to be an old fogey aren't I...)

It a pleasure and privledge to serve in our great armed forces-and our nation, and to see the dedication and professionalism of the soldiers/sailors/marines/airmen of what alot of folks predicted would be a lost generation that have in the fight the past 10 years. Hoo-ah!

A good air cooling solution for any mainstream gamer's PC build is the Noctua NH-D14. Since you're not really going to overclock much (and the NH-D14 performs similar to the H80 anyway), I'd recommend that if you want to save some hassle.
Just make sure it fits in your case.

the liquid cooling solutions will be just as prone to fan failures, and the fans installed for most units are pretty noisy whereas a lot of air coolers come with much more quiet fans which is nice wink.gif

but yeah you don't need much cooling power to run at 4ghz even with Ivy bridge.

Thanks for all the help/feedback. Made some final choices-and pushed play- purchase...just a few minutes ago-so hopefully
can have this put together/burned in by end of next week.
Based on the feedback went with following changes
Noctua NH-D14 aircooled, hx750 corsair psu, asus hd 7870 (with an eye toward xfire-ing a 2nd 7870 in a few months)
partly because it could be looong time getting ahold of gtx 680. dropped the 2tb hd for now-can always add later.
hopefully nothing doa...biggrin.gif really appreciate those the advice!
