very nice samsung

nice marketing ploy, the "unscratchable" gorilla glass, is actually scratchable, i just pulled my phone out of my pocket to find a 2mm scratch on my screen
post #2 of 11
This isn't what you want to hear, but you should probably just take better care of it. Nothing is untouchable. No, really nothing is untouchable. Take everything with a pinch of salt. That said, I'm pretty sure Gorilla Glass is merely advertised as more resistant, not scratch proof.

TBF, I'm not one to talk. My phone has so many dinks and scratches in it I doubt I'd get a penny for it. But then I don't complain to others when I drop it etc.

I have had my phone for nearly a year and a half and it doesn't have any scratches. That may be because of the screenprotector tho. biggrin.gif

Many materials are harder than Gorilla Glass and can scratch it with ease. Quartz (in lots of stones and sands) and tool steels are fairly common things that can scratch it.

link to "unscratchable" marketing material? I have never seen this.

The GG screen on my Thunderbolt is pretty torn up from whatever, but the screen made apparently of the same material on my OG droid has only 1 scratch....and the TB is only half as old.....

This may sound utterly gross to do to your phone and will basically render your screen quality to crap, BUT what you could do is sacrifice that with a Zag screen protector and an Otter Box phone case. I've had my phone longer than you and it has no scratches on the screen and work outside with dust as well as water and have dropped it multiple times. The combination is not "sexy" but it protects your phone from yourself tongue.gif.

my iPhone 4 also has several scratches. I read that only natural stuff like sand and rocks can scratch it.

My phone has been under a screen protector since day one.. I doubt it has been unprotected for more than a minute thumb.gif I replaced the screen protector a few days ago, the screen looked like it was straight out of the factory.

sssshh, don't tell anyone, I'm still using an ancient Nokia E63 and paying $15 a month for my plan tongue.gif
