360 controller acting up

My wired Xbox 360 controller that I use with my PC has started to behave strangely. I can't play GTA with it for example, because I get stuck in "aim mode" as soon as I plug it in. My computer also freezes during POST if the controller is connected. The test feature in Windows for gamepads shows no abnormalities, all buttons and joysticks register normally when used.

It doesn't have warranty btw. Not a huge loss if it's useless, they're cheap and I already have another, but it really bugs me so I want to fix it if possible.
Any thoughts?

My wired 360 controller also prevents my computer from POSTing so I need to have it plugged in to a USB 3.0 port and disable USB 3.0 Legacy support so the ports aren't activated until after POST.

I've never had it act up in Windows though.

I managed to fix it. Turned out to be the right trigger that was constantly registering a tiny press. Had to open the controller up and bend it back a little from the inside.
