When using the beta patch for dayz you can make steam open the beta patch by typing this into the launch options:

-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -mod=@dayz

Then just launch Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead as combined operation. Then you can use steam ingame. Havent found a way to get xfire working.

Is there a way I can download steam to my external HDD and then DL ARMA 2 (and other games) to my external HDD, copy to my regular Hard drive on my rig and have it work? And do the same thing for DLing D3 from blizzard?

I am asking because my home download speed is 180kbps. OUCH. Heres my works' speed, with everbody at work and online.....

yeh for steam games just install steam on your external and the games. then make a backup of the games through the steam ui and restore the backup on your computer at home.

Just great, I was at some dam and theres a bug when your swimming, Your gear lands on the sea and you cant pick it back up, I just restarted

That's not a bug. You sometimes lose gear from swimming in Arma 2.

You can always go to his channel and watch the video. Twitch records all the streams and catalogs them.

No it was worse than that though because back in arma 2 you could at least get your gun back and another item or 2 and swim to shore with it, Not to mention the water was only 2ft deep, I walked half of it and theres always that random hole that makes you swim

Oh right. I haven't played DayZ yet so I haven't experienced this. I remember playing Arma 2 and sometimes losing a few items when swimming. I always thought it was kinda stupid anyway. Why would I lose my sidearm from swimming in water? All your gear is secured in webbing and a backpack!

Rocket is aware of the problem with swimming but it is not something he can do anything about since it is in the arma 2 engine. How ever, the newest beta patch makes it possible for server admins, to disable, the dropping og gear in water. But not many are aware of this, and therefore do not turn it off.

I had a bunch of gear a while back, then BAM! Rogue server. I then respawned, with all my gear, on an island. Could only get of by swimming. Lost everything except my tools. So I had to run back to find my mates without any gear/weapon and no food. It was a pretty badass feeling when I made it alive back
