It's worth checking everything on that map that isn't a barn. Barns are only worthwhile if you're low on ammo or food. Deer stands won't get you a backpack, but they can get you almost anything else.

That Island to the south east looks like a good safe spot, close to loot areas lol?

How do Zombies spawn exactly? Like if you have a group of people who work together, can you like "take" a town, clear it of zombies and then stay there safely?

Or will Zombies just randomly spawn in your mids?

I think its more like a run-in spawn system. Zombies will populate once you move into there area. I don't think they will respawn around you if you are in a certain area for a while. But once you logged off or the area was clear of survivors they would likely spawn back when you logged in. Dunno for sure that's just how I figure it works.

Also a campfire is a major zombie magnet, you pop one of those down and a whole town will swarm it. I think flares will to a lesser extent. The key is to set it up before you aggro them, so you can escape the area and let them concentrate on the fire/flare. I watched a vid on YT where they set up a fire at night, lol about 30 swarmed it from the nearby town. It might only work well at night too, maybe more like a 50/50 chance at daytime for them to be lured in.

It will likely be a while before I start on this mod, I would like to see a few things fixed before I started anyhow. Like how anyone can quit at any second to avoid death, or food/water depleting while you're not playing.

Oh really? So they ain't there already but are spawn by the player moving in? So if a group of players move into a town a whole bunch will spawn?

That's a bit of an odd way to do it, I reckon there should just be a general number of zombies on the map, and they spawn to replace the dead but they don't spawn close to active players, or something like that.

That seems more realistic to me, so if you secure an area, its secure. No phantom Zombies randomly spawning lol.

I moved Arma 2 and Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead to my SSD using steam mover for better loading times, but it's still unstable. Anyone have a fix?

It's a problem with the mod. According to the dev, loot and things weren't be despawned or something, so there was a bunch of crap around, and it caused poor FPS. According to him, it's fixed in the hotfix that just was put out a few minutes ago, but the forums say differently.

Don't bother fixing it on your end, as it's not a problem on your end. Try Arma II by itself, and it should play very well. It does for me, just the mod is screwed.

Well the range for spawning is quite far if it is how I described. If you have binoculars or a scope you can sometimes see zombies at the far line of sight. So if they do spawn in when a player enters the area, they will be spawning in maybe 200m+ away from you. At least from the videos I have watched, people can sight them a long way off, although I guess those far zombies could have spawned in when someone became closer to them, and not necessarily that person.

At least I would hope if you are in an area and just cleared it, it will stay that way until you leave or no survivors are present. It is in Alpha state so who knows, maybe they do spawn on top of you. Plenty of other bugs and glitches in it right now.

They won't spawn on top of you (and logging in gives you a radius that is clear of both zombies and loot unless someone already spawned them), but they can and do respawn within range to hear louder gunshots (Enfield, Winchester, M24, AKM) and rejoin the horde attacking you.

Ah that's good. It would be a game breaker for me. This means you could secure safe areas lol.

I believe zombies only spawn in if a player is near to the town. So if you can see zombie in the town and you are far off that means a player is either there or was just there.
