And if I ever had the desire to roll back a version (I don't), I'm perfectly capable of doing so, even with Six Launcher. I've never had a single problem with it.

Number of times manually updating has left me unable to play: zero.

Number of (well documented) times Six Launcher has left people unable to play: one.

Tell me more about that competent updater?

I literally only have about 45mins of playtime so far. Stories like this make me want to play again.

Hey thanks, I might write more stories then, maybe with less typos.

Let me ask this, because it's possible they've gotten better since I've last checked them out: can you tell Six Launcher that you want to stick with OA Beta 95248 and patch 1.7.2.3, now that 95310 and 1.7.2.4 are out? That is to say, can you continue to play with the non-nerfed weapons and such? When I looked at the launchers before, you didn't really have much option for which version it was going to update you to.

You can't play with the non-nerfed weapons because the nerf is ArmA2, not DayZ, it is a change to the game files, not mod files.

I had thought the actual change was in the new Operation Arrowhead beta patch, i.e. 95310, which is the recommended patch to use for 1.7.2.4. I am disappointed if that is not the case.

It is in the new 1.62 arma patch, if you somehow get it to use 1.61 then yes you can still use the unnerfed guns, but I dont think you can do that.
There was someone on the dayz forum I think, who wrote that he and a friend on the same server used different version (1.61 and 1.62) his friend used the old version and could one shot zombies with the revolver but he couldnt.

I dont know if they have fixed it though.

Dayz commander shows you what current version of dayz and Arma 2 beta you are on and shows the latest available for each. It won't update unless you say so.

There are plenty of servers that use patch 95248. It's 1.62, but it's pre-nerf. It seems to be the sweet spot. I think I'll stay here for a while.

Now, DayZ Commander is the only one that I would consider switching to, or would recommend to a friend. It helps that it was made from scratch by a player who was sick of Six Launcher.
