I'm starting to feel my GTX 470 becoming more and more outdated. I have to turn down several settings to be able to run the game. Part of me wants to upgrade now, but I think I'll wait till next generation.

Well you can always keep that mentality. I'm probably going to be ditching my 680 here soon. Ready for the next cards.

My PC feels quite a lot of pain on Dayz. I'll probably have to upgrade the CPU when the standalone comes out, just doesn't seem to be cutting it.

Well we found some cars on the 1993 overclock server, and I thought I would go see how many people I could pick up in a pickup along the coast before the pot shots added up to enough to disable the car. Unfortunately, the answer was zero . Everyone I came near starting shooting.

Well don't forget that servers affect your FPS quite a bit. I drop to 20-25FPS in Cherno/Elektro on some servers even with a 4.4GHz 2500k.

AA and anisotropic filtering really affect my frames above anything else.

I drop to 30 in some areas with a GTX 680

Thats because the game isn't GPU intensive... I have a 3930k and it stuggles with FPS from time to time in big cities or if I'm driving through towns... The sad part is, it only runs at like 35-45% max across the cores.

Well the stand alone is going to be better optimized and it will hopefully run a lot better. I mean I can run the biggest BF3 map on Ultra everything yet here on high it still goes to 19fps in this one city.

I know how you feel... its a little frustrating.... I've gotten to the point I dont drop below 30 because I've turned some stuff down... The standalone better be more optimized!

So I finally found a town after wandering on a road for a few minutes. I found a few supplies, but was nearly beaten to death by zombies. I aborted (game crashes) after a few minutes while being chased by a persistent zombie who looks like Jamie from Mythbusters.
