That thing is hard as nails, you will NOT find high end gear in an hour, its more like the feeling of how it used to be,and it is stupidly hard,I am starting to fall in love with it again:D

I just started playing DayZ+ and it's pretty awesome. Zombies are actually a threat and there's a lot less focus on banditry. I've found that people on DayZ+ servers are a lot more willing to work together.. mainly because zombies can drop your blood level down so fast that you're gonna always want someone around that can give you a transfusion. xD It's definitely a lot more survival than vanilla DayZ.

I get geared in about an hour on DayZ+. Wish they'd make it a bit harder, like DayZ Redux, but then they wouldn't get many players.

I've been playing Insurgency actually, tons of fun... and really hard, the AI is up on a super hard difficulty(they love to flank so much) and OPFOR players make your life a living hell if they steal BLUFOR vehicles and weapons redface.gif

Also, make sure you play on an ACRE server... definitely worth the extra effort, I hate when I can't communicate with my squad though mad.gif

I love DayZ, though.
Even regular Arma battles and such are fun to me, Arma is my favorite/only PC game. I'm surprisingly (to myself) good.
Joey, if you'd like to be in the clan, I'll invite you to our skype chat and we'll eventually set up training for you.
Who says I am not already trained and in a clan? tongue.gif

Where is the Standalone Release?

I suppose I should start with the question everyone wants to know… where is DayZ Standalone? Obviously, it’s not here. At Eurogamer I said that DayZ had to be out before the end of the year and that’s come and gone. I still stand by that comment, to achieve what we had originally wanted, we did have to be out by the end of the year - and we’ve failed to achieve that.

Put simply, DayZ Standalone isn’t here because we had the chance to go from making a game that was just the mod improved slightly, packaged simply, and sold - to actually redeveloping the engine and making the game the way we all dreamed it could be. This blew any initial plans we had dictated to pieces.

The plan going forward

The plan from here is straightforward. We will be releasing a closed test imminently, during which approximately 500-1000 people will assist in ensuring our architecture is correctly functioning. This closed test will be focused purely on architecture, not the game design. Once we have confirmed fixes for issues arising from the closed test, we will then reschedule an internal date for our public release.

What has been done?

One of the most profound and major architectural changes has had its initial implementation completed, this is the overhaul of the inventory system. In fact, the inventory and item management system was completely removed and rewritten from the ground by Jirka, one of the original engine programmers. The work that has been completed on this groundbreaking, and it going to fundamentally change the DayZ experience.

You scavenge for items now, as individual parts, picking up pieces rather than piles, looking for cans on shelves or under beds. The new system opens the door for durability of items, disease tracking (cholera lingering on clothes a player wears…), batteries, addon components, and much more. If you shoot a player in the head to take his night vision, you will damage the night vision. The changes to this inventory system are huge.

An additional area of change has been to make the inventory system more intuitive along with a key focus on providing visceral feedback on your progress through what inventory you have. The use of drag-and-drop, 3D models rather than 2D pictures, and being able to add items/clothing to your character in 3D in the inventory screen - have all come out of months of design work and research. I’m extremely pleased with the results of Jirka and Hladas, two of the programmers who have been working on implementing the design ideas. I believe the changes to this inventory system will fundamentally change the nature of the DayZ experience.

We are not at the point where we can release meaningful videos or screenshots of the system, but we have now confirmed the base architecture is working in game. Likely, the first that will come out about the inventory system will be during the closed test when people are actually using it.

UI Changes

ArmA community legend kju has been part of the DayZ development for some time, and is now one of your key development members. He has been working with our CEO (Marek) and me to develop the DayZ UI. We have been greatly inspired by Minecraft to make the UI simple and effective, rather than flashy and complex. All our art and code efforts are going into the game, the UI is being designed to be straightforward and functional just like in Minecraft.

Art Progress

A huge amount of work is being completed on art. I’m including some more additional pictures taken from around Chernarus. We have some massive plans now that all interiors have been completed, as rather than moving them on to other projects we are now giving them exciting new things to create.

One of the new artists on the team is a texture artist, and has been working on revising the textures for our new building interiors so they look more post-apocalyptic. Some of these changes can be seen in the work-in-progress pictures I have included.

Map Progress

The lead architect of the revised (and original) Chernarus map, Ivan Buchta, is still imprisoned in Greece on charges of espionage - and is a great loss to the team. Luckily, through letters, Ivan is able to provide some input and insight into the development of the map. Regardless, the continued imprisonment of him and Martin Pezlar has a significant impact on our ability to redevelop Chernarus.

*This is on OCN 1992 server*
Well, my crazy rampage in elektro was stopped (finally). Got to 16 or 17 kills, and died mostly because of my own fault.

I ran into two guys in the church, and was about to kill them, but they called out that they were friendly, and fresh spawns. I did hit one of them (before they called that out), and when I left, they we're working together to heal each other (they were using in-game chat). So, I decided to let them live, since they were playing the game in a pretty cool way. I needed some more ammo (only had an AK-Kobra with two mags), so headed to the firehall nearby. Unfortunately they came up the stairs, and hit me once (which was fair). I fired back and ran (I knew it was them), and told them via in-game chat that I would help them, provided they didn't shoot me. UNFORTUNATELY some guy with an M16 heard me/us, and got all 3 of us (although I got him at the same time).

Oh well. Luckily I spawned at Drakon, so I'll be restarting my rampage soon.

For those of you who want to know how I work:
1. If I spawn in Elektro, I spawn in "evil" mode. I will fire on anything UNLESS you give me a valid reason not to (Fresh spawn, trying to find friends, etc.) and aren't acting hostile. In that case, I will run away. However, if I bump into you again, don't expect me to remember you. You can repeat what you said, and I'll do the same as before. If you don't, too bad.

2. If I spawn in Cherno, I spawn in "good" mode. I will help you if I can, UNLESS you give me a valid reason not to (fire at me, act hostile, try to rob me, etc.) i.e. act hostile. If you need tips, I'll assist how I can. I'll help you fight off zombies, I won't steal your loot, and I'll heal you if you need it / I can. However, I will ask/demand that you DO NOT follow me. I work alone.
Feel free to join in. It's pretty fun.

Now, there is some logic behind this. What's cool, is that this promotes teamwork in BOTH locations. In Cherno, It's a very clear "let's work together" situation. In elektro, it's a bit better. Seeing as I go around shooting everyone, your only hope is to either be better than me (rare, tbh) OR to work together. Basically, you need to team up to kill me. On the other hand, I also wont hurt people already working together (provided they don't attack).

Teamwork + DayZ = GOOD

When I fresh spawn, I'm generally 100% friendly. As I get better gear, I start trusting people less. So far I've never seeked out people to kill.

Soooooooooooooooo I want to try this again. I finally updated my rig so it might stand a chance this time.

Server details (US1993?) and any information required to get it up and running would be nice.

Run the separate games once, then run combined ops, then install DayZ patch?

Yeah install the games on steam and run them once.

Then get "Dayz Commander", and let it update arma2 and install DayZ... make sure to always run it in "admin mode"

Add "74.91.115.145:2332" to your favorites there, and join the OCN server.
