A Korean shop called GMarket has put the HP Pavilion G6-2002AX on sale for 892,630 Korean Won, around £500. The laptop is the first we've spotted globally with the soon to be announced AMD Trinity APU.

Although the product page doesn't indicate which one it is, the clock speed - 2.3GHz - point us to the AMD A10-4600M which would come with 4MB L2 cache, four cores and four threads as well as support for 64-bit and a TDP of 35W.

This appears to come with:

  • 4 2.3Ghz Piledriver cores with 3.2Ghz turbo core on 2 cores
  • Radeon HD 7660G DUAL GRAPHICS with HD 7670M (better than desktop GTS 450 performance!)
  • DDR3-1600 (good, I consider this a must with all A6+ Trinity laptops or desktops - the A10 should've probably come with an 1866 kit), 8GB of it
  • 1TB HDD (nice for a laptop!)
  • 64-bit Windows 7
  • 6-cell battery (all-day battery life ftw)

All this for under $800 USD.  Perfect laptop? biggrin.gif

The price seems to right now be 956,390 won (it raised) which is closer to $850 USD but that is still great!

Here's a screenshot directly from the product page:

Here's another, specs in this one; anyone read Korean?

Too bad HP's have a high failure rate for their motherboards.

^ Perhaps we'll see similar prices with other brands yet.  Did I mention, that's what I think matters the most here...

Trinity is priced right.... waaaaaayyy tooooooo right QwQ

Just imagine... a notebook with netbook-class 10hr battery life (running netbook basic tasks... but you can still game and edit video like a boss!), comfortable 15.6" form factor, with the graphics horsepower of a desktop GTS 450 and four CPU cores, 8GB RAM, and a spacious 1TB HDD for under $800 buckaroonies.  This kind of laptop at this price wasn't possible to get--I think---ever before!

I could read a bit of Korean, and it doesn't add anything that people can't guess. An A-10 is an A-10 in both languages. biggrin.gif

My friend bought a llano laptop 2 days ago, while I told him to wait for trinity because it'll be much faster than any llano chip.

Nice but how will it perform? I imagine it would be a great gaming laptop, but poor in other areas. AMD really needs to seize the laptop market anyway.

That's actually quite expensive for Korean I believe. IIRC their living cost is lower, so their average annual salary is quite lower too.

Got to do some digging. Either way you cannot just convert one currency to another without factor in other variables.

If i add around 20% VAT on top the £500 it may be around £600 in the UK which is very close to core i7 Intel laptop without a graphics card.

Especially if you consider that for 800$, the best pre-built desktops you can get are weaker for anything 3D:

(I do realise the CPU is a lot faster but that's not all you need).

As someone very interested in getting a Trinity based "Ultrathin" when they are released, do you think they would be cheaper than this laptop or priced lower?
