So from what I'm hearing, I'll need to buy two routers.. What is dd-wrt? I found a link sys 54g router on newegg for 50$ that has tons of 5 star reviews. It is compatible with dd-wrt, but it isn't included.

What kind of router do you have now?

Surely not worth 50.

Their Wiki's are where it's at.

Here's an example of what I've got goin on. Note how 192.168.1.2 is a repeater, and 168.1.1 is an AP.

289

Which by the way, It wasn't supposed to work as 1.2, it was supposed to be 2.1, but know what? I'm so cool I make thing happen when they shouldn't lol.

Does Actiontec sell a Wireless Range Expander or Wireless Repeater, to extend a wireless networks coverage?
No, Actiontec does not sell a Wireless Repeater. The Wireless Routers, Access Points and Gateways that we currently produce, do not support WDS or Wireless Distribution System. (WDS is a technology that allows the linking of several Wireless Access Points, to create one large Wireless network.)

Did some research, yes, it looks like we will need two. It's going to look (not be or work) kind of ghetto, but it'll do exactly what you want.

It's okay if it's ghetto, it's not going to be seen lol. Once I actually get them, I'll post back.

Thanks so much everyone!

Thanks so much everyone!

Incase I don't notice this thread gets bumped, PM me and I can help with getting it setup. It's a struggle at first, but once you figure it out and understand what's happening, it's a breeze.

It's a cisco small business bridge. I worked a while on it but I'm doing something wrong. I need to put in a static ip address.

I've made a little booster if you will for my anteanna that gave me a better range to two more rooms. I believe it was simmilar to this http://hacknmod.com/hack/dirt-simple-wi-fi-signal-antenna-booster-for-free/
Not as powerful as a new router or repeater, but its free smile.gif

EDIT: The one I used was called the "WIndsurfer"
