Very Very slow boot up

So I came home from school today.
Turned my computer on and it took forever to get to post, it posts very slowly, like listing all the devices takes it a few minutes, if i try to go to UEFI that takes 5 minutes. Once inside UEFI everything is really really laggy. It gets to the OS boot menu but loading the os takes...... I am freaking out because I have exams friday and all my code is stored on that computer. Also have to do photoshop projects that are on there.

Edit: Havent added any new hardware or installed any new software for a while, the computer has been working extremely well for the past 5 months.

Here are the specs:-

i7 2600k
16gb ripjaws x
crucial m4 128gb
asrock z68 extreme3 gen4
gtx 560ti
the psu is a 700w corsair, its 4 years old.

Uplug all of your USB devices but the keyboard, if it still does it unplug the keyboard and check. That is a very common symptom of a faulty usb device.

My uncle had a similar problem. It turned out to be his HDD. But you have SSD so i'm not sure if it could be the same. If you can get into windows run diagnostics on your drive. Check its speeds and health.

get it fired up and move all of your code over to a flash drive pronto.

then like they say right above me, unplug everything except for the main drive and see if it's still slow. then I would look into possible hard drive problems.

Edit: Does this means my USB port(s) are faulty or a usb device. I did have an ipod shuffle and usb drive plugged in when I first booted.

I think the devices you had hooked up (either the shuffle or the USB drive) could've caused the slowdown.. if you unplug them and boot goes back to normal, then don't leave them plugged in when booting tongue.gif

No problem dude, (imma dude too tongue.gif) it generally means the USB Device is bad or like other stated, the ipod. But if some pins in the usb slot are bent and touching each other, that can cause it too.
