CHRONOS MMXIV
So, like the title says, this is my first ever build log, as well as my first computer build (from scratch) in quite some time. Excuse the name, I've never been too good at coming up with cool names biggrin.gif but this build is definitely going to help me pass the time between build time and the year 2014. I'm not going to actually start putting things together for another couple of weeks, but since I purchased my EVGA GTX 680's yesterday, I figured I'd start the build log today. thumb.gif

List of components
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 3930k
  • CPU Cooler: Corsair H80
  • Motherboard: ASUS Rampage IV Extreme EATX
  • RAM: G.skill Z Series 16 GB (4x4GB) 1600Mhz Quad Channel kit
  • GPU: EVGA GTX 680 SC (x2) *Already purchased*
  • HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM
  • SSD: Crucial M4 128GB
  • PSU: SeaSonic X-Series X-1050W
  • Monitor: Dell U2312HM 23" IPS Monitor
  • Case: CoolerMaster HAF X
  • Already Paid: ~$1060.00
  • Remaining Cost: ~$2130

My build started off as a rig that would be able to run modern games at decent settings with decent framerates. Obviously, that changed a lot. I was originally going to go with a 2500k/Z68 build, then decided to wait for IB/Z77. After doing a bit of reading, I decided I wanted to go all out, and I'm now I have my sights on a 3930k/X79 build. In all honesty, I wasn't planning on having SLI 680's, until I was at the website and decided to buy 2. After reading many reviews on a lot of different products though, I'm going to have to say I'm locked in on the above products, and I will be more than happy with this build when everything is purchased and put together.

Once the initial purchase/build is complete, I do have a few more things I want to do with this build:
  • Full CPU+GPU+GPU water cooling loop
  • Sleeve the PSU cables (either red or red/black)
  • Get a tri-monitor setup going
  • Case lighting/ more case fans until I put together a WC loop

I'm sure I'll think of more things that I want to do with this build, but for right now I'm only going to focus on a few at a time, I don't want to get overwhelmed with different projects! Unfortunately, I won't purchase the rest of the parts for another 4 weeks or so, but I have enough on my plate to keep me busy until then!
