Intel core i7 930 temps

Thread Starter
I have always used AMD, i just got an i7 930 overclocked to 4.0ghz and running on 1.42v cooled by a corsair h80,my cpu temps are about 43 idle and about 75~ running prime 95 for 20 minutes (max heat), are the temperatures alright? or should i reduce the clock and voltage?

Temps are actually pretty good for that voltage, but your voltage is way too high! Stay under 1.35.

I'm new to overclocking and my brother did the clock for me, he is really good at overclocking and I'm a bit scared to screw with the voltages because he said "if its not stable add voltage"

Stay below 1.35 otherwise you run the risk of killing your chip or reducing it's lifespan.

I got the chip from my brother and its about 2 years old and it has been on 4.2ghz and about the same voltage, but on full water cooling with a 360 rad, it seems to be doing fine, thanks for the advice =).

i got mine to 4ghz with only 1.3v. basically stay below 1.35v and see what your chip can do.
with a H100 cooler.

temps dont go over 65c.

i have dropped the voltage to 1.35 it crashed im using 1.36 right now and its running 10 minutes on prime 95. I'm really concerned it gets to 86c max on full load for 10 minutes but never gets above 80 while gaming or on daily use.

use IBT on very high and 8 threads. (or MAX ram)

those temps are really high. you should drop it to 1.3v and see how fast you can go. try 3.8ghz and work your way up or down.

1.29v and 3.6 GHz i don't see a big temperature change.

Re-seat and re-apply thermal paste and test again. You could see an improvment thumb.gif
