Pokemon Red or blue? Input!

Thread Starter
Ok, back in 1998 my mom bought me a Gameboy Color (clear purple and I still have it biggrin.gif), and Pokemon blue. I never got to complete the game, and I was wondering if there is difference between the two?

My mom was told from my Christian school that pokemon is devils play rolleyes.gif so I never got to play the games while growing up. Since I live on my own (forever alone) I like to start from the beginning. Since I still have my gameboy color I was going to buy the red or blue from my local vintage stock (I don't want to play on emulator, NOSTALGIA!)

Thanks for input!

There are some pokémon wich only occur in either Red or Blue. That's the main difference and a reason to have a friend with a different version, so you can trade pokémon using a link cable. Gotta catch all 151 of them thumb.gif

Very little difference, the screen is a blue tint with blue version and red with the other. As Sybr said you also have exclusive pokemon to each version, but no real deal breaker.

It seems contradictory to me that your mom would buy you a handheld and not let you use it blinksmiley.gif

Pokemon was definitely the devil's game. That gameboy pocket of mine killed my eyesight.

I personally only had one game and it was Pokemon Yellow, the one where pikachu always followed you around thumb.gif

Oh thats when my mom bought me Legend Of Zelda: Links Awaking DX but all of my friends played pokemon and they also played Legend of Zelda. I almost sneaked when I was younger and bought the gameboy color game myself. But when I was young I didn't want to get caught. So, ya...

I HATED pokemon yellow in the beginning because getting past the first gym is literally impossible without grinding for at least an hour getting a crappy bug/poison type. Then you get at the second gym and it's all worth it smile.gif

Pokemon is so much better on Gameboy Advance. Anyway, Blue! Red is too mainstream.

There's no better time to play through these games than now.

if you played pokemon red or blue on the gameboy advanced you could change the color of the background. pokemon yellow was always my favorite of the lot, pikachu rocks!!!

I bet one motivated hacker will open one up and find a fix to this.
