Your running that poor guy HOT! 62c is the thermal limit according to AMD, I dislike mine being past 55c personally. Also, What cooler do you have? If I where you I would check the TIM application first. Check to see if you have a good spread and coverage.

If I where you I would turn on AMD's Cool N quiet option. This will lower the Vcore and CPU multi at idle, it will help a little bit. Its listed as Hardware Thermal control on some mother boards. It might be time to pick up a Cooler Master hyper 212+ or evo. epic cooler, I'm using one on my 955be, it stay's nice and cool (even with the 4.0 overclock) in my 80f-85f room:)

I have re-seated the cooler once and applied as5 TIM after it started crashing but it didn't help frown.gif

And your case has decent, unimpeded airflow to the CPU cooler? no dust, or anything like that slowing down airflow? is your PC wedged in a small space, say under a desk or in a cabinet? Your CPU temps are outrageous for your ambient temps. I'm running tons more voltage(Vcore and CPU-NB voltage), much higher clocks, and my temps are only able to get into the 50c range after hours of $100 load across all 4 cores due to prime and my ambient are closer to 29c. would it be possible for you to remove the fan from your cooler and replace it with a different fan? or do you have access to 4pin to molex adapter? try plugging the fan directly into the PSU, or pick another header on the mobo to plug it into (preferably not a PWM header).

Any chance you could post pics of your rig, and the CPU cooler and fan? I might be able to identify it from a pic.

Below is a link to discribe the adapter I'm speaking of just in case you are unfamiliar with it.

Decent yes but not good - it has a 80 or 100 mm intake fan and a 120mm rear exhaust fan. The computer is not very dusty and the cpu heatsink should be in perfect condition as i dusted it off when i reseated it.

It is not wedged in a small space.

I can't really replace the fan - it is a scythe "slim" fan, anything thicker than a slim fan will not fit.

I have only got a 3-pin to molex adapter. I'll try to find a 4-pin to molex somewhere.

Will post a photo of the case + the components in 1 hour

EDIT: It actually started crashing the day i updated the GPU drivers (CCC recommended the update so i went ahead and did it). Could this be causing it? It wouldn't explain the CPU temps so thats why i havent rolled back to older drivers.

Its very possible that the GPU driver's are causing the crashing. Can you clear up exactly what you mean by crashing? Dose it freeze and require you to do a hard reboot? dose the game just CTD(Crash to destop), BSOD? what specific crash are you seeing. Also you can look though the event viewer to see any logs of events around the time of the crash. On the first page one member said that your VRAM could possibly be over heating. This is very possible too. Looking at a pic of you mobo, there is nothing actively cooling your mobo's VRAM/MOSFETS.

I will say that while your CPU is warm and close to its thermal limit in the screenshot you posted those temps on the CPU won't merit a crash.. it is however odd that it is so hot with stock clocks and such a low ambient temp. I would roll back driver's to see if that helps any. The more I look at the screen shot you posted the more it seems odd. Your GPU temps seem fine, your hard drive temps seem fine, but your CPU is hot, I'm looking into what TMPIN0-1-2 are reading out to. I know one will most likely be the CPU socket temp, and one should be the "system" or motherboard temp, but it would be nice to see what they are. Good luck.

EDIT: you can use the 3pin to molex on your fan, and it will work just fine. The 4th pin on a 4 PIN FAN header is only for the PWM single. Worth a try to see if the fan appears to spin faster..

When it crashes it just turns itself off without a warning or BSOD. I'm pretty sure there isn't anything cooling the mobos VRAM/MOSFETS, i can confirm this when i get to the computer in half an hour.

If i want to roll back the drivers, do i have to find an older version on the net or does CCC have a "roll back function"? I'm not very familiar with ati.

I wasn't able to connect the 4-pin to the 3-pin molex, the plastic edge is preventing it.

On AMD's website you can download older versions of driver's/CCC. I looked at your mobo via pic on newegg and can confirm there is nothing cooling your VRAM/MOSFETS on the board. start with driver's and then if it crash's post a pic or two smile.gif

Here are three pictures. Kinda hard to get good pics of it due to the size of the case.

ok, Your cooler is Scythe Shuriken that case might be good for a HTPC but its terribad for a gaming rig I hate to say. I'll bet your lack of airflow is getting the VRAM's hot. Roll back the driver's first to see if thats the problem.

I'm betting that when you put a heavy load on your system that tiny little case can't flow enough air to keep it from turning into an oven.
