Make it a Sandbox MMO and subscription based and it's and instant buy from me. If it's F2P/B2P I doubt I'll even bother.

This is rather stupid. Look at KOTOR. It was meant to be a single-player franchise, and would've been highly successful if they made a KOTOR 3. Instead they made TOR and look at how much it fails. Nowadays, seems like every single=player game is going to MMO. Btw, they announced a Halo MMO, CoD MMO, Zelda MMO, Dragon Age MMO. LOL.

It could be a fresh take on the mmo experience. If it isn't just a strait up wow clone like recent failed mmo's have been. And I also much prefer a subscription model. 15 bucks a month. small change. And putting a barrier to entry on the people who don't have credit cards is all good in my books. Plus I hate micro transactions and pay to win.

I too worry though that this will spell the end of good single player elder scrolls games. Just look at swtor. Instead of a kickass new kotor 3 we got a generic and boring unsubscribe in 2 months wow clone that will probably ensure nothing single player ever happens again in the kotor line.

This affects nothing. It's a side game made outside the main series by a separate development team. Bethesda isn't suddenly going to stop making TES games because Zenimax is making an MMO. It doesn't even take place in the same era as any of the main series(2nd Era if they stick to the canon timeline). This will have no more effect on the story and gameplay of the main series than Battlespire or Redguard did. The game can be good, great or horrible and I wouldn't be bothered.

Yeah but it's usually more than that in other countries (check the Austrailian prices thread, which includes the UK).

It's also an obligation to pay every month. I'm a big TES fan but I don't play every single day. I would prefer to play this casually. And, yeah, I know they have cards by the hours but that doesn't make it any better. Also Gild Wars is just getting ready for its second game and it has never been a pay2win model at all. They've turned profit and made it a success a TES MMO would do that hands down just by the brand popularity alone. Massively Multiplayer Online Skyrim? People would eat their own arm for that and they don't need to lock you into a sub model to get there.

But meh, if they do that I'm out. Not a chance in hell I'm paying a monthly subscription for a game.

Another thing to wonder is if they're considering a console release as well, seeing the massive fanbase they have on xbox etc.

Aye. I ditto this.

It seems completely against the formula we've all grown to associate and love about TES. This if anything, could potentially ruin the franchise.

TES's main appeal for me is because it's not an MMO, it's single player and more immersive.

Not welcomed news for me. But i'll keep an eye on it.

Third person? screw that. TES has always been first, again, more immersive that way. I'd wager that it will be third person, though.

It also troubles me that they announce this when Skyrim is still in it's infancy. Clearly they're trying to ride the Skyrim hype to bag themselves another success. Eh, this screams a failure to me but we'll see. They'd have been better off just working on DLC for Skyrim and implementing some of the features their employee's created in the "Game Jam" video here

Seems like wasted potential to me. They can also definitely count me out if it requires a monthly sub.
