Waiting for Trinity is "risky." We don't know what we're getting. Ivy Bridge, despite the massive leaks and previews before launch, was always known to be a power consumption focused die shrink with some boosted GPU capability.
Trinity on the other hand is using a brand new CPU architecture... it's a revision of Bulldozer. Bulldozer was less than stellar, and we don't know how much Piledriver will be picking up the slack. It's likely safe to assume that it's an improvement over Llano in the CPU space, but the amount of improvement is up in the air. The only thing "guaranteed" is a big boost in GPU performance.
I should clarify - waiting isn't really so much the risk as getting your hopes and dreams up is. We have less than two weeks to wait... not really a big deal.Edited by Homeles - 5/3/12 at 9:37am
