Not sure what fans you have tested and compared too, but I would like to see what results you got.
Unless you can prove your findings, what you said means little.
I myself have used many Noctua fans over the years, and has shown to prove very well against others.
Many tests have already proven the results of there fans.

Martin included the Noctua in his latest round of tests.

Perhaps Corsair George could organise to send some samples to Martin for testing?

That test was for the NF-F12. I was comparing to the NF-P12-1300 thats been around for a long time, which I had side by side with the Spectre pro and the Noctua was quieter. Havent had any fan similar to be quieter than the NF-P12-1300.

I do not really see the point. The NF-F12 is a better performer of those two Noctua fan models. The NF-P12 being quieter then the below-average performing BitFenix Spectre Pro does not mean my prior post included false info. For instance, even the Phobya Nano-G 12 1500 RPM fan showed in the prior comparison chart outperformed the Noctua NF-F12 in performance, price ($9-13 vs. $19-26), looks (subjective), and roughly tied in noise results. So the Noctua NF-P12 would have shown worse performance and maybe a slightly lower level of noise.

I also posted about the Scythe Gentle Typhoons, these all out perform the Noctua fans in every category with a price around $15-18~. The new Corsair fans are seemingly very good at their price points. I could probably list some others fans that are cheap and out perform or roughly tie with Noctua fans. However, it has already been demonstrated their are better and cheaper alternatives and do not see the point of dragging this line of discussion further, if the only remaining reasoning is purely subjective.

Hopefully when my new test benches and meters come in there is enough time available to assemble a new fan test chamber for more accurate testing of many fans in the next month or two. biggrin.gif

I recently got the high performance static pressure 120 mm fans. Haven't been able to isolate nd test them but i have been running 6 gentel typhoons ap 15 fans and they compare VERY well. At max speed they are louder but the thrum is consistent and the airflow/static pressure is rated higher than the gt so its not a big deal. They undervolt very well and I can get them to still spin at around 30%. When they are undervolted to the equivalent cfm level of the gentle typhoons they sound about the same to me.

The build qulity seems excellent and the fan is much heavier and sturduer than the typical generic case fan. Corsair has rubber-lined screw holes (similar to noiseblockers) and the blades are heavier to the touch than ap 15s. (implies higher static pressure). The corsair motor is also smaller in terms of radius than on gt ap 15s which means less of an airflow deadzone on my radiator.

Overall i rate this fan as a winner comparing favorably with the airflow/dba king, the gentle typhoon ap15, while also being easier to find.

Addenum: my sp 120 is serving as the push fan on a kuhler 620 radiator on the front intke of my corsair 500r case. I have 10 fans total in the case (6 are ap 15s) all controlled by my sunbeam rheobus or motherboard.

This is awesome to hear! I just received 4 o fthe high performance SP 120s that I ordered. I haven't even had a chance to pull them out of the box, but I'm excited to hear they compare favorably to the AP-15s (which is what I was going to order, but I thought I'd give these a try). I'm putting 3 of these on an externally mounted triple 120 rad, so I'm hoping the noise isn't too bad. I figure it can't be any worse than the 2 AP-30s I have on my dual 120 rad, so they should be good.

Thanks for the quick review! Rep+

Well i have three of the sp120's in my rig and i must say they are Great the cfm for the noise they push no way these are only 62cfm unless every other fan manufactures are lying.
They are sitting on an ex360 rad from xspc. even with the fan reducers on they still blow decent cfm through the rad. i think corsair did their homework on LOOKS and also on performance.450

If they're rated at 62 CFM open air, then I bet you're getting at most 30-40 through that radiator, and more likely around 20-25.

A pointless statement as there's nothing to compare it too. GT AP 15's are rated at 58.3 CFM and 28 db at 1850 RPM. Corsair's SP is 62 CFM at 2350 RPM and 35 dba.

GT AP-15's are the king of quiet radiator fans according to Martin's testing but their rated stats are probably for open air too

If you are only getting 20-25 CFM through a radiator with a Corsair, you're likely getting the same with a GT-AP15 which from all benchmarks outperform most fan. (I know, my computer has mostly the same cooling performance with my AP15 or my Corsair).

Your statement was out of context and misleading.
