Media Center PC.

Ok so I have been thinking about building a inexpensive media center PC for the lounge, basically what my plan is, is to build a mATX machine which will only have a linux media centre distro on with VNC or an open source derivative (so I can connect to my main machine and press play on what ever it is I am streaming.) So would I benefit from a small GB sized SSD or would I be better off using a usb?

Are you going to do this on a network? if so
the ssd will probably bottleneck unless you`re running 10Gbit ethernet or fibre
what do you mean by 'better off using a usb'? a usb external drive?

It is on a network but a wireless one. What I mean by usb is booting from usb so storing distro on it.
