looking for motherboard for 26k

Thread Starter
so just bought a 26k from a member here on OCN. i can't wait to get it. he was able to get to 5ghz on water stable so if i can get close i will be happy.

anyways, as u can see from my sig rig, i need to get me a motherbaord but not sure if i should go the z77 or z68 route. the one motherbaord i keep looking at is the ASUS Sabertooth z77. my only concern is that armour around it and it's ugly looks lol.

what are most people using for this socket and what's the best board out there. i am an EVGA fan boi but don't want to wait or overpay for a motherbaord that can do what the majority do.

thanks for looking and please help me out...

If you want to upgrade your CPU with Ivy then getting Z77 will make sense. You may also want to get Z77 if you want PCIe 3.0 and Native USB 3.0.

Otherwise a Z68 board will serve you well.

Do you have any preferences in the Mobo size? mATX, ITX or just regular ATX?

forget PCIe 3.0, the OP bought a 2600k...
i probably would go down the z68 route and look at
Asus P8Z678-V, pro boards
ASrock z68 extreme3 or 4.

but if you like EVGA
some nice selections here
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&N=-1&isNodeId=1&Description=evga+z68&x=21&y=13

you can go down the z77 route if you like the features like Lucid virtu MVP or just having anew chipset.. then the above boards look for the z77 equivalent with Asus and Asrock..
Gigabyte too have lifted thier game as well an have some nice z77 boards like the GA-Z77 UD5 or GA-Z77 UD3H smile.gif

yeah i don't need a small motherboard. regular is fine. i would love to get PCIe 3 as keep hearing about the performance boost. do u have a suggestion to what mobo to get??

Pci express 3.0 is with ivy bridge cpus
pcie 3 is only useful when playing at ridiculously high resolutions with multiple GPUs...

If your not going to be doing these I suggest the asus p8p67 pro, arguably most popular 1155 board on ocn.

nope i had no idea to be honest. not sure if that a deal breaker to me not to get a z77 though. i just want a great board, overclocks great, a ton of features and is sexy looking. basically for me my limited edition evga classified is and has been my favorite board of all time. just looking for something similar but doesn't have to be evga,.

thanks a ton guys for answering me and helping out, rep to all of you.

Yeah I should have been clearer with words on my previous post. Yes you need Ivy if you want to use PCIe 3.0. Any PCIe 3.0 mobo will run as 2.0 with 2600K

You can get a p67 board if you do not want to use Intel SRT (SSD caching). As $ilent said p8p67 is a great board.Alternatively youy could also get P8P67 Deluxe for these reasons.
