Ah... yeah... that little "screw up" has been disproved many times now.
IHS on or off, made no difference. So that cheap TIM you are talking about, is as efficient at conducting heat, as if there was no IHS+TIM at all.
That's some pretty good TIM if you ask me.

yeah um, not at 4.2ghz. the chart you linked was for high OC's

That is still too hot imo at 4.2 GHz. When I did 4.2 GHz I only achieve 60 C at IBT. Prime95 small FFT (max heat) only has 50 C max. I believe the voltage is only 1.10 V

I run 4.4 GHz at 1.176 V (offset + 0.015 V) and LLC Level 3 and my temps are 60 C at Prime95 and 70 C at IBT.

Ok so I took the heatsink off and cleaned it and the cpu with alcohol, reapplied the paste like people were saying for the strip method and reattached it all. temps are a little better but not too much. Also running at 1.10 vcore now but that was before the paste redo and did not seem to really affect temps too much.

I'm not really sure if this is good or not since I have been hearing different things, not sure what I could do to lower it at all at this point, could be I just got a slightly hotter chip? Oh well it runs fine.

seeing like a max of 64 in the max heat prime test. 57-60 in the custom blend 338

well seeing how much you stripped off the original post temps looks like your on the right track.

my 3570k runs a bit hotter than my 2500k did but not insanely much. plus i use its hd4000 as my main graphics because im saving up for a gtx 670.

Ye, I'm getting 77C @ 1.18V right now on IBT, Hyper 212 EVO and i5 3570k (only 4.2ghz). Looks like I'll try reinstalling and applying my TIM that came with the heatsink... hopefully I'll get same luck as you!

Hm I get up to 80c in prime with an evo @ 4.4ghz. In games, never seen it above 60c.
I have my 3570k @ 4.3Ghz and I'm able to have my vcore down to 1.09 (Z77 Sabertooth). I haven't done a lot of prime95 on my CPU, but it's been working fine in games. You could try lowering your voltage down more if you wish (trial and error!).

Reinstalled heatsink, reapplied thermal past (with MX-4), tightened it all up. Installed push-pull Sickleflow fans and temps have not even changed. It's exactly the same as before frown.gif I dunno....

could something be wrong with my sensors
