When this comes to fruition, my life will be (almost) complete. I can't wait!
I love Linux Mint. I'd just have to setup a windoze VM for school stuff, and I'd be set.
@ The linux hate...
Linux is a very fragmented ecosystem. There's a crap ton of options. It's hard to make generalizations as there are many distros that do things differently. Personally, I can tell you I absolutely hate a few distros, but that has to do with their choice of user interface. In Windows you have just one choice, but in Linux you can install any number of desktop environments and find the one that fits you. On top of that, many of them are highly configurable. Once you find the DE and a set of programs (again, many options) it's absolutely amazing. There can be a few kinks, and maybe it's not for the majority of people, but Linux fills a need; otherwise it wouldn't exist. I'm absolutely ecstatic that Valve sees it worth developing for despite its small marketshare (perhaps they have plans involving Linux and steam for their purported console that's in the works).
Anyway, try multiple distros for an extended amount of time before you pass judgment. There is no single Linux out there, so your blanket statements are unfounded.Edited by stolid - 5/6/12 at 12:49pm
