Desperately looking for a CRT replacement.

Thread Starter
Since last week my CRT Monitor has a probelm and i desperately looking for a replacement but i couldn't find a good LCD Monitor.
I bought a LG IPS235P and oh man that one was a nightmare with this IPS-Glow, IPS-Glitter, Low Contrast, Aggressive AG coating bigeyedsmiley.pngwackosmiley.gifstitchfacesmiley.png

Are there any Monitors or TV's out there with good picture quality and normal response time and normal contrast without any big problems like the IPS panels have?

I wasn't aware of IPS monitors having problems.

Because of this IPS hype i bought an IPS that had 4 stars in reviews but they ignore the IPS problems. For Office work IPS is oky but it's an nightmare for Multimedia in a normal light room with 80LUX.
I also found out that it is useless to comparing Monitors or TV's in shop because of the bright lights (2000-3000LUX in shops vs. 60-150LUX in Homes).

There are hundreds, if not thousands out there that match what you've said. Maybe narrowing it down a little will help?

What resolution?
What physical size?
What refresh rate?
What inputs/outputs?
What is it being used for?
What budget?

Resolution: 1080p or more
Physical size: Minimum 23"
Refresh rate: Minimum 50Hz
Inputs: 1x HDMI
Outputs: Doesn't matter
Speakers: Doesn't matter
Monitor Stand: Doesn't matter but a VESA compatibility would be good
Used for: Multimedia, Games and Office Work
Budget: 23"-27" 400€ (526$) and 32"+ 800€ (1052$)

Thats pretty easy to do, so my next question would be what kind of screen you prefer? Matte/glossy/flat, and what kind of AG coating? I prefer glossy myself but I can tolerate matte screens. I CAN NOT STAND the AG on some of the high-end IPS panels like the dells, which is what you described in your OP. The screen itself is very nice, you can see that by comparing to the Apple cinema displays for example, but the AG is over the top and ruins it.

Does color accuracy matter to you? Photography work, etc?

I would say glossy or semi glossy would be the best i don't want the AG coating to eat all the vivid colors.
I don't do photography but color accuracy on the Monitor or TV should be between oky and good, I'm not picky but some TN Panels have really bad color accuracy. smile.gif

Well, I'm in love with my Asus VG236HE screen, it sold me on glossy when I saw it in the store. I'm fairly sure you could find a nice TN panel with gloss/semi gloss coating easily, just depends on what brand you like and what exact size. You can get anything from 23" to 27". If you like color accuracy there are also IPS panels that don't have the AG coating you experienced. Depends on what you want.
