+1 for 3930k. Ivy looks ok, but I'm of the opinion 4.4 is about the best on can hope for on high end air cooler/clc.

Unfortunately the 3770K is sold out everywhere! I'll have to go with the 3930K!


I just built my younger sister a new computer, she is in school majoring in video game design, she had a budget so we went with a 2600K, I know she uses Maya, Photoshop, UDK and others, how big of a difference would the 3930 make for her?

Maybe I'll convince her upgrade and I'll just use the 2600K...

That's pretty much my field of work but more in animations. I wouldn't back down to mainstream CPU any more with 3930k. The rendering speed is nearly or pass double if overclocked vs a quad cores CPU. Working with high definition textures on models is a plus.

 

Also, grab a SSD if you could. You won't want to have any bottlenecks in production workflow.
