Hi Cancer,

Sorry to hear about your issue with your FC3, do you have any molex splitters or are you conecting the FC3 directly to the PSU.

Furthermore, it may sound stupid but do me a favour, take the FC3 out of the pc case and on a non metalic surface, plug it on to the PSU and see if the pc starts.

The only cable I had connected was the molex extension cable that came with the FC3...no splitter.

In the below pictures the only items connected are the 20pin, 4pin, SATA for the ODD (because I forgot to disconnect) and the FC3.

Powers and POSTs with no FC3.

With FC3 connected there is no power on.

Disconnect FC3. Still no power on.

Power cycle the PSU's hard switch in the back.

The computer powers on and posts again.

The Lamptron RMA process continues to be....interesting.

Lamptron support:
Hi,XXXXXXXXXX:

We are sorry for the problem you are experiencing now.

FC3 will use 12V,not like FC5 which use 12V and 5V to work normally.

So FC3 will not be burnt out here.

Ps try to check contact pin in FC3 connector or PSU powe wire.

I'm not sure what you're asking of me here.

Let me explain what is happening again.

I have 2 known good power supplies in 2 different computers.

An Antec Earthwatts 650 and a Coolermaster 460.

If I connect this FC3 fan controller to EITHER of these power supply units it will prevent the system from staying on for more than 10-15 seconds or from powering on at all.

There are no fans or ANYTHING connected to the FC3 at all.

With the FC3 disconnected I have no issues booting each of the 2 different computers.

The unit functioned perfectly until about 2 weeks ago.

Lamptron support:

I am so sorry to make your trouble.

According analysis,12V was burnt out,so it will affect your computer booting.

I checked your receipt and time you offer RMA request,it was over one year.

While We applied to replace new product,pls confirm your address and telephone number.

Cancer, I discussed your case with them several nights ago, you were 2 days over the 1 year free replacement period, I told them to make an exception in your case to have the unit replaced. I will discuss it with them asap to make sure there are no issues.

My Lamptron RMA experience has been fairly mixed.
Pros:
Fairly easy, polite staff and I've never had an RMA rejected.

Cons:
"Pony Express" is an understatement.
The fact that I've had to have several RMAs for the same product over two years doesn't inspire much faith in the build quality.

OK I am leaving my response to how I felt the RMA and support of Lamptron is .

My vote was a 7 reason for it was the length of time to get the replacement , it took a month to receive it and I have only owned the unit for a month before it broke and all tho the CS rep was helpful and friendly it was frustrating trying to decipher the E-mails and reply with some of the technical questions he was asking in broken English .

the unit it self is a decent unit the build quality looks a bit sloppy and the touch screen is kinda wonky but not a bad unit ,

So I bought the Bitphenix recon Fan Controller to replace the broken Lampton touch as I had read it could take months to get it replaced from Lamptron the Recon build was much nicer but the cables were not sleeved and they mis-advertised the amps per channel only reason I went with the recon was it was on the shelf at the store and I wanted a FC with 30 amps per chan. (which it does not )

the replacement from Lamptron is much much better and now comes with sleeved cables which looks awesome even the solder joints look a lot better accept for a few pins from the screen PCB didn't penetrate all the way through I don't think this should be a issue .. originally I was kinda disappointed in Lamptron but after looking at how the new one looks I may re install it to see if it is any better ..

I'm starting to get that pony express feeling.

I also have an FC-8 so I've just been using that with the existing molex connectors for all my fans in the interim.



I had decent luck with my FC-8 except for channel 8's knob which got stripped when I turned it a little too hard.....also the knob cover comes off apparently.
The channel still functions though.
I was considering an RMA for it when I first got it because the LED programming was not working correctly.
On boot certain lights would not display their correct color designation....but after receiving some extra voltage....or after leaving the controller on for 10 minutes or more..it sorted itself out...so I never bothered.
It has much more power than I'll ever need and that makes me happy.

I also have about 2 dozen Lamptron "Rubber Fan Mounts (For Closed Corner Fans)"....which are very good for "closed corner fans" as one might expect.
