Thread Starter
Which is the best card out of the two considering the 7950 only costs 20 pounds extra.

I'm not sure what the difference actually is, but if there is a GTO 256, then you should go for that instead.
I would say that more than 256 MB on graphics is highly overkill. Oblivion is about 240 MB at 2560x1536 (Close to) at maximum settings, so there will be some time before you can use it all.

Actually some games out wont work because frame buffer isnt supported by enough memory. I would suggest the 512mb 7950gt for the future. but if you really think about it dx10 is coming soon. And with that you might want to think of saving that muuulah and waiting for vista + dx10.

Well the 7900GTO will beat the 7950GT in everything and cost less. The ONLY thing that a 7950GT has is the HDCP support... Other than that the 7900GTO is better

From the fps point of view on FEAR and prey there isnt much difference but the 7900GTX seems to have the edge. This is the xfx geforce ive seen though. The 7950 is passivley cooled and i think that is the only significant difference (please correct me if im wrong anyone!!) so if you want a quite system this is a great card but personally i would go for the 7900GTO or the GTX.
Good look, and either way you will have a cracking card!!!!!

Save your money, or put it to better use. I would get 2gbs of ram and just hold out till dx10 available cards are coming out, its only round the corner.
