I have to agree that the design is a bit anticlimactic, especially with all the hype surrounding this phone. I mean they should be taking notes from *better* designers such as Apple, HTC and Nokia instead of merely focusing on pure performance (which is important for us OCN-ers but not the general public - where aesthetics is USUALLY the more important factor).
I'd surely get this phone if I had the money... sadly I have Student Loans to pay frown.gif

The white one looks good, but I don't want a white phone. I don't like the blue one. I'll just wait until the US versions drop.

If you look at the original Galaxy S you'll notice it looks very similar to an iPhone 3Gs. Even the OS looks similar to iPhone OS 3. I personally have no problem with the new design of the S3. I do not care for how the iPhones feel in my hand and it's nice to have some variety.

I think it's the sort of thing that might grow on me over time, but at the moment I still think the phone looks ugly. Yes, in many ways it resembles the Galaxy Nexus (which I think is a great looking phone, though not quite as good from the back) but they've somehow managed to adapt that design and make it look crappy. I think it's the fact that the GNex was completely black or white, whereas they've done some silly thing with the S3 which is probably "inspired by pebbles" or something.

And, despite people saying that the home button on the S2 was too large and looked a bit oversized, they've kept it the same size but stretched it out sideways so it loses a bit of height.

Honestly I think they should have just kept to a design very similar to that of the Galaxy Nexus - the same one colour across the whole of the front, with the software keys instead of hardware keys and the notification light at the bottom. I don't see why they felt the need to change their own design so much.

Despite the fact that I've bought a Sensation (currently waiting for it) it was clear that Samsung won the 2011 Android flagship phone of the year. But I think HTC have won (or should I say One? tongue.gif) this round. The One X looks nicer, Sense looks nicer, and that's all that really matters now - the internal hardware has become good enough that it's not as much of a selling point as it used to be. And whilst some of the features of the S3 sound nice, I don't think most of them will really be useful, apart from the induction charging.

I don't think the phone looks ugly. It's a shame the HTC does not have an SD-card slot or else I would have choosen that phone. It looks like the manufacturers go for online storage, which is crap i.m.o. I have an original Galaxy S that has a 32 GB SD card with all my MP3's on it, so I prefer a slot so I can just stick it in the new phone and go!!

Pre-ordered thw white one, delivery 30 May.......can't wait!! biggrin.gif

Yeah, that's one thing that I don't like about the One X as well. I couldn't really have afforded a One X (or a One S for that matter) so it was kind of a moot point when I chose my phone.

does anyone know when we can expect the first real reviews and tests for the S3?

I don't know for sure about reviews, maybe 2 weeks or so from now.

Not a big fan of its aesthetics, but that's not important to me. I am just going to slap an otterbox on it.
