I loved the open beta. I had a blast playing all characters. It was even better when I installed the DarkerD3 shader mod, which made the atmosphere similar to its predecessors.

The DRM is completely fine with me as it makes complete sense for a game like Diablo III.
It would be nice if they gave back our $49.99 price tag on PC games.

Hmm.

But then games would be cheaper than they were in the 90's!

StarCraft was 49.99$ in the 90's.

Adjusting for inflation, that comes to about 64$.

So, we're actually getting games 4$ cheaper than we used to.

I like 49.99$ better, but you've also got to realize, games cost more to make and they are charging less than they used to, but they make it up in Volume.

If anything you could say that Diablo 3 is all about "how fast you can press the left and right mouse buttons, oh so over hyped" Diablo 3. rolleyes.gif

Both games are great, and there isn't any need to compare them. Even more so if you haven't played each one extensively.

I think after playing so many awesome online/offline RPGs over the years has spoiled it for me. Besides the whole easier to sell in game items for real money deal theres nothing else that stands out for me.
Or maybe Lineage Eternal is what changed my mind on what a modern top down view rpg should be like tongue.gif

I hadn't thought about Lineage Eternal in a long time, and just looked up some videos. WOW! I have to say that it is shaping up nicely, and I'll have to get it when it finally launches. In many ways Lineage Eternal's combat looks superior to Diablo 3. However, Lineage Eternal is actually an MMO, and the game does play quite differently so although they have a similar camera style, they are different games.

The problem is that after last November there hasn't been any new info, release time frame, and I can't even find the official site? I'm guessing that the release date will be at least 2013+ so that's why I'm getting Diablo 3 now.

Nah you can't say that about Diablo b/c clicking the mouse buttons is all this kind of game ever is or ever has tried to be. No one expects anymore really. Guild Wars II however was supposed to be all ground breaking and would change the way we look at mmo's. So far the only thing it's changed is I now only have to press 1 button to pwn folks instead of 3.

Now only that, but Blizzard really benefited from all the delays. Yeah, 700,000 is a lot of pre-orders but it's also 2 years worth. How many other games have been on the pre-order list since June 2010? If you compare the length of the pre-order period to that of Guild Wars 2, SWTOR, or Skyrim it isn't nearly as impressive.

Aren't these just retail pre-orders? I imagine the pre-order numbers from Blizzard will be quite a bit higher.
