You need to look at the airflow in your case. One 7970 shouldn't get getting that hot.

What case do you have?

Just some old case and If i open it it changes nothing. When not OC my peak temp are 79 and when OC 85 but usually run between 80-85 so why not OC if it dies I can just replace it smile.gif

Well anyway I found out that my temp were reaching 90 is because I had vsync off as soon as I turned it on my temp were back to 85. 85 is my peak temp is not the temp that my card runs OC.

More so just normal wear and tear on the mechanical parts of the card.

Dust, airflow from case, TIM degradation, changes in weather are more likely to increase temps.

A sign of degradation of the silicon itself would be like more voltage to achieve a stable OC.

For processor I have Noctua NH-C14 plus 2 smaller fans to keep the heat off the case. If you check the reviews you'll see that the stock temp are ussualy 79

My card might be degrading then frown.gif. Will switching motherboards/CPUs potentially cause this effect?

I changed from a P55 chipset to Z77 and an I7 860 to I5 3570K.. My card was never a good overclocker and under water, I had it at 1150 GPU, 1800 memory with 1.25V. The card never got hotter than 44-45 C.

I switched to a new motherboard and now 1.25V is completely unstable (I didn't test this pre-new motherboard using Crysis 2, although I did use Witcher 2 which is GPU intensive). It didn't even seem 100% stable at 1.3V in Crysis 2 benchmarking. I gave up and lowered the GPU to 1130 Mhz at 1.225V (seemed fine at 1.2V at first except instability shows itself when running intensive stuff like Crysis 2 DX11 benchmarking).

EDIT:
I clocked down the memory and it is back to running without issue at 1150 Mhz GPU and 1700 Mhz memory, with a voltage of 1.231 (might could go lower). What was weird is that 3dmark11 kept showing an increase in score when I raised the memory clock to 1800 or 1850. If ECC was kicking it, it should not show any increase.
