GPU Randomly Powering Off

Thread Starter
I recently built a new rig and have been having problems with the GPU. The GPU will randomly power off and leave the monitor with an error message saying "no input digital". The rest of the system is still running (I can hear the fans) but the GPU is powered off. I have not done any overclocks yet, so it is not a stability issue. I have the latest Catalyst 12.4 drivers. I have tried rolling back to 12.3 but to no avail. My system specs are below:

i5-2500K (stock frequency)

Radeon HD XFX Double D 7870 (stock frequency)

4x4GB GSkill DDR-3 1600 MHZ Ram

AsRock Extreme 3 Gen 3

Antec Earthwatts 650W PSU

Windows 7

Any input would be appreciated

Welcome to OCN.

I've reported two of your threads now, one for being in the wrong section (platform bugs, nonetheless), and the second for being an exact duplicate of this one with an addition of a component you forgot to add. We have an edit button, please use it rather than making new threads over & over again.

With that being said, onto your issue, if the GPU is powering off, this is either PSU related issue or a GPU issue. Do you have access to another video card to rule out the GPU being the issue, possibly integrated graphics if available?

Yes, my PC was working properly while running off integrated graphics.

Then your GPU is likely the issue. Depending on how recently you built this system, you may still have the 30 day replacement warranty from wherever you purchased it from. If not, contact the manufacturer and see if an RMA is an available option.

This happened with my 7850 once or twice, leaving driver has recovered spam in the event viewer and I had to reboot to get it working again.
It ain't my PSU for sure: my 5770 was fine and it uses the same power. I also get monitor blank out once in a rare while, or a horizontal refresh flicker type thing. Started when I got this stupid card with its worthless drivers.
It's driving me mad, but no one replied to my thread.
