hello,
i'm ruuning a single redeon hd 6870 a sapphire one (non - reference )...
This card is working awesome till date but is hot very hot during 100 % load and even playing battlefield...
Temp around 85c.. Although getting anything not more than 85c...
So i'm thinking to custom cool it..
I think so that i'm gonna add a corsair h series closed loop..cuz they are maintenance free...
So will be able to add a custom corsair h series water cooling kit on it or i won't..
And ya if yes which one to go with...
Budget around $75..
That's all i'm gonna spend on my custom cooled hd 6870..
Please help..
Thanx..

hi
i agree that 85c is high (the fans are on auto Mode, on Max it hits 67 but noisy as HELL ) but i think you should look at custom air coolers before going into water:

-Arctic Cooling Accelero Extreme Plus 2 (Manufacturer ) (review )
-Thermalright Shaman (Manufacturer)

because the watercooling kit take some space in the case
BTW little comparison (480 gtx)

thanx for the link and.. as well as for the reply too.
so first of all i have a corsairr carbide 500r case.. Which is pretty much in itself is big.... so , I do have room for any corsair H series cooler..
Also i reside in INDIA and due to very limited availability of arctic products.. It is very difficult or almost impossible to get accelero plus ...
However , i can easily find any corsair H series cooler..
So any suggestions.. How to cool my 6870..
Please reply..

Oh , i didn't know about the availability of Accelero in India , so :

i suggest you the corsair h70 (or the Antec 620), it will be more than sufficient with this card :
567

finally HERE is a thread that can help installing the kit

Well , i suggested the h70 because THIS GUY makes custom mountings made for these kind of "GPU watercooling MODS" and it's only compatible with h50 and h70 so it would be a better choice to choose one of them unless you want to strap it yourself on the 6870 with ZIP TIES for example

He makes 620 mounts as well, Few people on "The red mod" are running them.
620 is also cheaper and performs better then the H70.

Personally I prefer the 920. I'm using that on my 6870 . And after many changes to brackets and thousands of wasted zip ties the easyest way to hold it down was 4 long screws with some plastic washers . I believe the corsair models are to big and sit over the holes

Hey, my 6870 Sapphire is running crazy hot too. I am not even playing any games right now, and the temperatures says 60 C. Is my video card dying?
