360 cost/performance smashes pc gaming into the dirt

The man speaks the truth, community and cost/performance is what will always keep the consoles dominating the market.

I don't care either way, I own both PC's and consoles alike. Not sure why there are fanboys either side of the argument...each have their merits.

Not true. The 360 launched at $299 in 2005 and the PS3 didn't launch until 2006 when the 8800GTX was $650 and the Ultra was $799.

The fact that you can't do anything while in loading, or No Mods just kills it for me.

I understand your position, but its still just your opinion. I've been a PC gamer since the early 90s when JOTJ launched on DOS and I've been a console gamer for just as long with the SNES. I prefer consoles by a long shot.

Also, the overwhelming majority of console games are 720p and 30fps, only a few prominent titles are sub-HD and even those titles that are, use some advance post-processing tricks to increase IQ such as Alan Wake, Halo 3, etc. So harping about resolution without considering other special effects, both real-time and post processed, only shows how little you know about graphics as a whole; resolution is not the most determinant factor in image quality. The quality of each pixel is and consoles tend to better on a per-pixel basis, that is why they still look great despite being 7 years old.

Not really. It probably seems that way because you generally sit much further away from the TV when you're gaming on consoles. I can tolerate console games from 6-8ft away but can't stand them if I'm sitting right in front of my Monitor.

Agree. I owned a 360 for an year, during which I used it for about 6-7 months. I had fun yeah, but it's nothing like playing on a 120Hz screen with a good mouse and keyboard. PC gaming to me is just so much more enjoyable. I hate being limited by my gear, and I felt like that on the consoles, some think that everyone are on the same level, but I believe that consoles bring better players down in skill and ease it for the more casual players, if you know what I mean.

At the end of the day far more people on consoles own and use their mic's. I prefer a controller - as is widens the skill gap and is, in my opinion, and is more comfortable. I can sit on a couch with babes and game with a controller. I can go to a friends and we can easily do 4 player etc with online to boot. These things are far less convenient on a PC. That's just the way it is. Sometimes you are in situations where a console is preferable, and sometimes you are in situations where a computer is - best to embrace both.

At the end of the day consoles are more social. Say what you will about hardware, graphics, etc but at the end of the day I think the social aspect of gaming is far more important than the technical aspects. So when I have to make a choice to play BF3 on console vs computer - I end up choosing console every time.

As for controller vs mouse, I think controllers are harder to use at first, but when you get up into the higher skill ranges things are very closely matched. I used to dominate kids in Halo 2 PC with a controller and they were on the mouse.

For this reason I wouldn't mind mixing it up. The future of gaming is the iPhone/Droid/Windows Phone etc etc. We already have usb ports to plug in controllers with. We already have mic/stereo combo ports for both game sound and chat. We have 4G internet for play on xbox live/steam. We have high rez screens...

How cool would that be, sitting in class, playing Halo2/3/BF3, with your friends, on xbox live?

I also think that windows 8 is a huge opportunity for the xbox. Allow people who have windows 8 to put in their xbox games and run them at higher quality/eyefinity/etc. Allow them to choose mouse/controller etc. Maybe give the controller people more auto-aim if there turns out to be a significant disadvantage....keep things fair.

Combine these things with ever increasing downloadable titles, gaming is about to change a lot. I think it is about time we stop debating console vs computer and start pushing for the integration of gaming on all devices.
