I have Gone AMD...Opteron 165

Hey there guys well i have joined you AMD people with an Opteron 165 and the DFI CFX3200 ATI CROSSFIRE.

Havent recieved either yet as i ordered them today but hope im able to oc the 165 to atleast 2.4...Im not a huge overclocker but 2.4 would be nice.

Lets cross our fingers for a good stepping

I believe any stepping can get you to 2.4ghz =)

I don't think they ever made a 165 that couldnt hit 2.5 or more and lately many do 2.6-3.0 so best of luck, hope you get a good one

Cheers mate. Yeah i hope i get a good one. Im lucky to get one as there not all that wide spread as they use to be thanks to AMD limiting them..Probably because of there potential for such a cheap CPU..These days anyway.

Good luck Enterprise I too just put an opty 165 together and got to close to 2.6 first day with very little effort and using one stick of 512 mushkin enhanced memory. So when I switch my memory from my other rig to this one then prolly work it higher. I'm gonna drop the corsair mem I got from (flaking)<<thanks, in it.

Why would you get an AMD rather than an intel conroe?
