Japan's sociology is a perfect macro-environment expansion of twitter. Everything is taken in small snippets when convenient or necessary. Even food. Handhelds, cell phones, and tablets are perfect for this. Remember this is the country that spawned the Tamagotchi. Or however the hell it's spelled.

Tweaking a computer for maximum performance is difficult, but I don't see anyone here stopping after the first failure.

You continue to stray off the reason why console are more prominent here. You clearly think it's something to do with laziness or stupidity. I don't think it's that. wink.gif

No, actually that was someone from europe who was commenting on the parallelisms between our choice in entertainment and our lack of discretion in personal vehicles. The only people I've called lazy are the ones who allow the culture of "computers are complicated" to persist. tongue.gif

I know it's largely due to media saturation, but media only has so much of an impact over personal experience. If more people had a more genial personal first experience with PC's, this topic would have been about a different country.

Very true. No one has any consoles in poland lol. I went there last summer and me and my one cousin just talked about PC's and stuff. Its much more prominent in Europe then in North America. I seriously don't think he really knew what a PS3 was haha. It was kinda a breath of fresh air to talk to people about more PC related gaming then just the mindless COD/Xbox/ banter you hear here over and over.

On a side not I drive a 1996 Trans Am which is a gas guzzling fool but I am happy. I'm the one paying for the gas. If I wanted a truck just for the looks I would get one. That's just our culture. I find it weird this annoys you?
Some of the things other cultures do for the sake of vanity is just as wasteful. It's just human nature. biggrin.gif
p.s. Wife Drives a Trailblazer SS which is also a gas guzzler. 6.0 V8

Consoles are by no means cheap. I have yet to meet anyone who has spent less on console gaming than I have on PC gaming, and my hardware isn't "quite" a budget build. Even after I get a 7970 and my vanity water block, I still won't be anywhere near their budget.

Oh, and my PC has never blown a single circuit causing the whole thing to be rendered a useless piece of shoddy plastic. I have one friend who's been through 4 Xboxes and 3 PS3's, and he takes good care of them. My PC? I had a motherboard go out, but only because I overvolted my southbridge during some hot weather like a genius. And it still worked, I just had to tune down my OC until I got a replacement. Would have never happened if I wasn't pushing the limits on it.

New motherboard: $100

New Xbox: $200 currently, with a 4 gig drive?... Seriously?...

Edit: And none of that took into account that I only spend about 20% of my time gaming. The rest of my time is spent doing things an Xbox and PS3 can't. Nor the fact that PC gaming is quantitatively a superior experience.

I prefer playing on pc because I like building them and I thin k it's funny that all friends are trying so hard to convince me to buy a 360.

Why would anyone do that to a friend?....

They are to lazy to do pc gaming and have no clue how to go about it. So they figure I should by a 360 and besides if they use PC's for gaming I will get bugged all time because they are to lazy to figure any of it out.

Once again i don't see why most of you think that PC gaming is popular in Europe, it may be in some parts (Germany and some Eastern European countries), but in my country and the few I've visited in Western Europe/met people from there PC gaming isn't any more popular than it is in America and console gaming reigns supreme.

Edit: Didn't check that thread in a long time and I didn't realise nobody had posted in it since 9 days, sorry for the somewhat necropost.

Germany, the land of the plenty, where people build PCs and the economy is doing well.

Welp, I know where I'm going after I get a M.S. in CPE.

Most people have their first taste of gaming on the family PC. Parents are generally starting to control how much time their kids spend infront of a screen, so they sneak games in while "doing homework" on the family PC.

They grow up with it and stuck with it over the years.

360 and PS3 still dominate gaming in the UK though, but there just happens to be a huge PC gaming market tucked away which doesn't really get much attention.
