Surely your ISP will allow you to download LEGAL torrents?

Some people use it to watch online TV shows that are only available in certain countries such as BBC Online, Hulu and IView. It's great when rigged up to a massive TV, I use it also for security and i dont use torrents either, torrents are a fools game if the content isn't legal, any traffic down my pipe is AES 256bit via SSL.

I was using OpenVPN for just over 12mths and decided to try something different, Hide My Ass Online is recommended by many security enthusiasts.

edit2: the "security" of your VPN for file sharing or other trivial things is not really that important. if your ISP or unkown intermediary can DPI your VPN, they're either working with the government and don't need a wiretap court order, or they're doing something really illegal. it's more important that the VPN provider not keep logs. "strong" encryption technologies are more important to internet activists or people under oppressive regimes.

Unless you find it extremely important that your IP should be masked, I find no reason to actually buy a VPN connection. Just my two cents.

Thread Starter
Okay, here's another question. Say i want to host a Minecraft server but i don't have an adequate upload speed to host more than 10 people. Say i bought a VPS/VPN with a 10 upload, and hosted the server while the vpn was on. That'd make my server have a 10 upload speed right? (probably a stupid question since the way a vpn works, but i wanna make sure lol)
Can I haz 125FPS?

A VPN and a VPS are different!

For a VPN no, as the serevr would still be hosted on your home conection

for a VPS it would bepend on you servers bandwidth, most VPS have good but shared connections
