Anything out there like fraps but better?

Thread Starter
I use fraps pretty much only to show my FPS in games, but every now and then I use it to record a video. I just recorded 20GB of BF3 footage in about 5 minutes using it. Is there anything else out there that can be activated by a hotkey and not use as much disk space?
It plays TF2

I don't think there's a "better" alternative to fraps, but there are alternatives at the loss of quality and features. There was ONE alternative I saw that claimed to be better than Fraps and perform better, but for the life of me I cannot remember, maybe someone will suggest it and I'll remember.

The reason Fraps takes up so much disk space is because the footage is basically 100% raw footage, almost if not the same quality as you were just experiencing. As you may or may not know, this size dramatically decreases after compression.

Msi afterburner. Screenies and video, any length, better quality and smaller sizes. Also, less cpu usage.

I heard Dxtory was OK but after using it a lot I found that it is pretty much the same apart from some features. Keep in mind that when I used it I was using a semi crap laptop so I'm not sure if that was hindering performance.

I don't really care about features or anything like that, so long as it records video at the press of a hotkey. I don't want to have to wait for my videos to compress before I can use them, lol.

Forgot Afterburner had all that, been running it this whole time. I'll give it a shot.

Tried Afterburner, works great. Quality was a LOT worse but I think that's because it was set to 1/2 frame size. Got about 10 minutes of footage of a guy using a banned spot on a server now, thanks guys wheee.gif

This is lighter on the CPU and offers smaller file sizes for recording. On some games that FRAPS messes up on, Bandicam can record flawlessly.

There's the program I was talking about the claims to perform better than Fraps and handle recording better, I knew someone would eventually post it thumb.gif
