Crash dump

Thread Starter
I have had a stable overclock for about 2 months now but all of a sudden my computer seems to crash at random. Well, when I am playing a game. Doesn't happen often but it is annoying. I located the .dmp file but I am unsure on how to open it. I tried notepad but it says access denied. Two nights ago I primed my comp for 12 hours and before that ran a IBT 20 times on max. Also, I let kombuster go on my video card for about 10min. It is stock settings on the graphics card.

I don;t think I have my info updated but this is for my 1090T @ 4100Mhz. The graphic card is a 5870.

Thanks again guys.

Please navigate to C:/Windows/Minidump and zip up any dump files located there that you'd like to have analyzed, and then attach that zip here. If there are no dumps located in C:/Windows/Minump, you may be writing full memory dumps to C:/Windows, and it'll be called MEMORY.DMP.

If there are no dumps in either of those locations, but you know you have a page file set up, any "cleaner" programs such as TuneUp Utilities, CCleaner, etc, will delete this upon use.

When I try to zip them up it says access denied but I am the admin on this computer.

You're going to need to take ownership.

Sorry it took so long. Finally got it all zipped up.

Dump Files.zip 124k .zip file

It actually crashed again while I was watering my plants but had Dragon Age still up.

Various different bugchecks, some including x124 hardware bugchecks. Before we continue, please reset all overclocks you may have to stock settings to ensure this is not an unstable OC. You're more than welcome to OC again once we solve your issues.

Alright, I just used the clear CMOS button my my MB and everything is set to default config. Should I keep turbo boost, cool and quiet on, and everything else? This is a full loop water cooled system also. Guess I need to update my specs.

You can do whatever you want, just don't overclock any components temporarily for testing.

Testing for what exactly? Should I try running a test or go about my daily tasks? How did you see what was inside the bug file?

Just do everything you'd normally do. And I saw what was the issue because I analyze dump files practically for an unpaid living tongue.gif

If a user has an overclocked system and there are hardware bugchecks or culprits in the crash dumps, the first thing I always do is tell the user to take their overclock components back to stock. If you don't BSOD at stock, it was the OC being unstable. If you do, it's another issue and we move on. It's much easier to troubleshoot BSODs after bringing overclocked components back to stock.
