The main criteria you should look at is the size of the area in which the temp is read.
A gun that reads, say a circle with a 3 inch diameter would be pretty useless for checking computer component temps.
Most guns spec the size of the measurement area at a specific distance from the gun. Generally the smaller the measurement area, the more expensive the gun will be.
Something like a 1/4" diameter at 6-12" would work best. The ability to record temp changes would be usefull too.
