I don't think you are ever going to be able to add voltage is the problem. Its a hardware limitation, not software (according to EVGA Jacob). Main reason I went AMD this round...

I consider the 'stock clock' (i.e. 980MHz) to be basically a meaningless number, and the 'boost clock' to be equivalent to what used to be the 'stock clock' on older cards. So, in the scenario described, I'd consider 1059 to be the card's 'effective stock clock', and 130MHz (1189-1059) the 'Kepler Boost', aka the amount that automatically gets added to whatever the cards 'boost clock' is. However that number varies from sample to sample ... but that happens to be my Kepler Boost as well thumb.gif
And when you OC the card via AB or what not, what you're doing is increasing the boost clock by however many MHz, then for 'operating frequency', you end up with 130MHz on top of that from Kepler Boost.
That's how I think of it anyways, hopefully we'll come up with terminology consensus eventually.

+1 right here...just ignore the base clock of 980...focus on the boost clock of the card

boost clock is 1059 on GB models...when the card is under actual load, it will go up to 1189, or in the case of my other card, 1124...because I got a crap card

Is there a way to OC these like with the fermi cards? I HATE the +mv and +mhz thing. I just like being able to see it as the specific voltage and clock speed in Afterburner.

That's so lame. I honestly don't even want to try pushing this card because of it. It makes no sense, really. Kind of counterintuitive. Doing math in your head vs. just showing you where you are...

another sad thing is, the lottery for speed bin is MUCH greater in this gen versus last gen....take the Gigabyte for example...there are plenty of people (including me) who report low clocks on their cards....and this is STOCK too, not overclocked....OC I can understand it being a gamble....but theres such a huge variance in stock speeds, its annoying...mine for example runs 70mhz difference, STOCK...so when I SLI my gigabytes, yes its 70mhz difference and stays that way....the "lower" of the two cards is a crap overclocker too....the "higher" of the two can OC decently

I'm not sure if its just GB models...but the 600 series of cards left a bad taste in my mouth redface.gif

Not the way Kepler works. You have a boost clock to deal with now so there is no set voltage or clock speed anymore...

These are all the reasons why I jumped ship to the 7970's from my 580's. Didn't like the look of overclocking on Kepler...

Don't worry about any math or what the actual value of the offset is. Just look at what it boosts to in after burner. Thats the only number that really matters.
