Isnt Asus Gtx 670 a 3 slot GPU?

No, it's not slimmer, they're practically identical in physical size. The Asus is a double-slot just like the Gigabyte.

Ok good to know. I assumed it was like the 680 version as I believe thats the 3 slot one.

The Asus GTX 670 DirectCU II is a two-slot cooler. It does not use the gargantuan cooler that the GTX 680 model uses.

I wouldn't sandwich either the DirectCU or Windforce model in SLI unless there is a slot between the two cards.

I am hoping that my Asus SAbertooth Z77 will have the enough room between 2 gigabyte 670 OCs.

I also have a soundcard but i guess i will put it above the top GPU.

You won't be able to use the sound card in the top PCIE 1x slot unless you do not use the motherboard fan that resides there. It mounts above the motherboard plating and will interfere with the sound card's installation. Also, that should be a fine configuration, but I insist that you have a side panel fan or HDD bay fan blowing between the two cards, or else the top one will become unhappy smile.gif

Well I'm here to jump the gun.

I've got The Gigabyte card as Well and I've been trying to OC it using Afterburner 2.2.1

Couple of problems.

First, in Afterburner's properties, I can increase the power limit to 111%, but whenever I restart the program, it goes back to 100%

Second, according to GPU-Z and Afterburner, the card uses 1.175v under load. I raised the voltage in afterburner to +100 (while having power limit at it's max which is 111%) and ran some benchmarks only to see that the voltage didn't change and stood at the same 1.175v.

Any ideas guys? I apologize but I don't think I can read through the whole thread to see if there is a solution.

Hmm i did not think about that fan spot. Anyhow. I can maybe insert my soundcard below the 2nd GPU than? right above the 3rd PCI slot in the bottom? How would that work?

I have 3 spare 140mm fans. I use one of them for rear exhaust of the CPU fan. It does help alot.

I use the second on the bottom.

I have 4 slots on the side panel of my case and can use the 3rd fan there no problem.

I will first see how it works without the side panel fan, and if the difference is alot than will use my 140cfm Akasa Viper fan there...

Good thinking :)

You can't increase the voltage past 1.175v, in fact, you can't choose to manually set the voltage at all (it won't do anything even if the slider/value changes in Afterburner). As for the power target defaulting back to 100%, i have no idea. Try restarting your computer and then test it. If that doesn't work, try saving a profile (the numbers along the bottom of the program) with it at 111% and with your offset configured so you can quickly switch back to your preferred overclock settings each time you start the program.

Also, FWIW I have yet to see anyone post a screenshot of a 670 using more than %100 TDP, even heavily OCed@ 1.175v

Well you don't HAVE to use the fan in that location. It only blows over the PCH and a few other components, anyway. The fan that blows over the VRM heatsink by the IO port is more useful IMO. smile.gif
