Gigabyte GTX 670 OC Version *HANDS ON* - Page 111

My Giga gives a 209 boost (For what it's worth). Just managed to pull 1324(boost clock) in Heaven.

I've got The Gigabyte card as Well and I've been trying to OC it using Afterburner 2.2.1
Couple of problems.
First, in Afterburner's properties, I can increase the power limit to 111%, but whenever I restart the program, it goes back to 100%
Second, according to GPU-Z and Afterburner, the card uses 1.175v under load. I raised the voltage in afterburner to +100 (while having power limit at it's max which is 111%) and ran some benchmarks only to see that the voltage didn't change and stood at the same 1.175v.
Any ideas guys? I apologize but I don't think I can read through the whole thread to see if there is a solution.

You can't increase the voltage past 1.175v, in fact, you can't choose to manually set the voltage at all (it won't do anything even if the slider/value changes in Afterburner). As for the power target defaulting back to 100%, i have no idea. Try restarting your computer and then test it. If that doesn't work, try saving a profile (the numbers along the bottom of the program) with it at 111% and with your offset configured so you can quickly switch back to your preferred overclock settings each time you start the program.
If you set the voltage in 1.175 in precision it will at least stay locked at that voltage. Not sure if ab can do that. Sucks cause I much prefer ab.

And if anyone wants to see a maxed out power limit run furmark. It took my 680 to 128% or whatever it is. Not that I use furmark for anything. Funny thing was while loading the power like that the core temp was like 7c cooler than normal load.

WOW! Just installed it, and temps are 30 degrees Celsius at idle with 20% fan speed. (Completely Inaudible). And in Heaven temps are 62 Celsius with fan at 40% (Still inaudible!)

Before, with my reference EVGA GTX 470, temps were 45C at idle with 45% fan speed (Slightly noisy), and 70C+ at load with 60% fan speed (VERY loud).

Try both? Some people are getting better results with Precision X simply because AB seems to be bugged for some people and capping their voltage at 1.165 instead of 1.175.

I've noticed my Gigabyte card is downclocking a little bit with my power target at 100%, even when the power % is well below that threshold and the temp never breaks 70 degrees. When I move the slider to 111% in AB it doesn't downclock. It's only reducing the clock by 9 MHz, but I found it odd. Am I missing something?

Voltage and clocks are dynamic. They'll change on their own, and there's nothing we can do about it. Doesn't matter if you set voltage at 1.175, the card will still reduce it if it doesn't need it. These cards go against what we're used to, but that's how it is now. Hell, my card is volt modded and it still fluctuates between wherever I set it, and whatever it "needs".

is it adviseable to uninstall AB before trying precision?

I don't think you need to "uninstall" it...just don't run both at the same time, thats for sure

However, it wouldn't hurt to uninstall just to be sure smile.gif

This is more or less true, with one notable exception.

On my card, the voltage WILL NOT go over 1.162V when I OC using Afterburner, no matter how high I set the clocks, or what I do w/the voltage slider (and some others have reported the same thing here). NOR will it do so in Precision X ... UNLESS I also go into the evga Voltage Tuner and cap out the slider at 1.175V. Once I do that, presuming I put a good load on the card with a benchmark or play Crysis 2 or what not ... my voltage will jump up to 1.175V.

This doesn't seem to happen with everyone's cards, but if you got a card that won't ever break 1.162V in Afterburner ... try slamming up the voltage in Precision X and I bet you'll suddenly be able to do 1.175V under a full load.
