i hope 1 side panel fan will be enough. if not i will either get 4 120mm ones or a big 200mm one

the soundcard is Creative XFI titanium

My SB Titanium lived for 2 years sandwiched between 2 470's in SLI ... it didn't hurt the card thumb.gif

Also ... generally-speaking, side panel fan = rookie hack tongue.gif

A properly designed case with a proper fan setup (and spacing for SLI) should never need one.

An intake side panel fan would be a particularly bad idea with the WF3 cooler, because you're going to be blowing the warm air from the card directly back INTO the cooler. With the WF3 (if you feel you MUST use a side panel fan ... personally I'd just seal the fan holes), an exhaust fan would make a lot more sense to me.

One very last question.

WHen I add a side panel to my case, it should be an intake fan right? not an exhaust?

You know what...these particular GIgabyte cards exhaust hot air side to side....most other ones with heat pipes, such as MSI's Twin Frozr or Asus' DirectCU....they all exhaust heat front and back

I have an HAF X, which has a 200mm on the side as intake, stock....it might be beneficial to put that side panel as exhaust, since it's like right there from the Gigabyte's heat fin exhausts

I have a full tower case. Aerocool Xpredator Evil Black. I really enjoy this case and its airflow alot. The case came with 230mm front and top fans only. I inserted a 140mm bottom fan as intake, and installed another 140mm fan to the back as exhaust. The CPU coolers hot air directly meets with this back exhaust fan for getting rid of the hot air from the CPU faster.

But when I will be done with my system, i will first try with no side panel fans, and than install one as exhaust and see if it helps. July 3rd cant come sooner.

I like the Hafx case. I was going to go for it but my case was cheaper in price so i opted for that. If you are going to try your sidepanel fan as exhaust, can you report if it helps?

Just tried on my HAF932.

Extrem burn in "OCCT GPU"
With side panel (230mm fan) : 71°C (and +3° on CPU idle)
Without side panel (open) : 69.5°C

weird ... I guess there is too much dust in my comp >_< (not the best at cleaning)

When i had a 590' my GPU started to to hi 90 degrees after few months. I did some cleaning without opening the GPU at all and my temp went down to 78 :) biggrin.gif

wait, are we testing side panel on and off? Because I was talking about side panel being intake vs exhaust, since the GIgabyte's card EXHAUSTS out air towards the side panel....if you have intake on the side panel, and the Gigabyte exhaust right at that intake...the hot air would just sit inside the case, no?

This is true, i now have my Hafx side panel fan as exaust as it gives much better temps and you can feel the warm air expelling.

Same, I'll be doing this when I get my 2nd card in...I only have one right now

I think for everybody who has a side panel fan, this might be worth a shot, just to experiment....
