Gigabyte GTX 670 OC Version *HANDS ON* - Page 120

amd7674, don't feel too bad....I have a crap card as well

1124 stock boost...and +80 would crash unigine heaven....theres such a huge variance in stock and overclock speeds with these new cards...it makes me sad since I'm use to the 200/400/500 series cards

Wow...thanks so much guys for all the feedback... thumb.gif

I will post screen shots later tonight...

The GPU is running auto fan profile when I see 70C (BF3) if I'm not mistaken it runs at 35% or something low (ultra quiet). I will double check tonight.
If I'm not mistaken I did try much more agressive fan profile, whcih would lower temps, howerver Heaven would still crash at anything over +80 on core.
Just for the record I haven't played with memory overclock before finalizing maximum core overclock. Then I tired Heaven with different mem settings
and I saw gradual improviment in scores. I had it running at +800, but it crashed in the middle of the test. So to be safe I went with +700.
I played maximum maybe 2 hours of BF3 (mp on 48-men server) without any issues. The max temps were 70C, power load about 70 or so... I'll post more accurate numbers after tonight.

Do you guys recommend changing paste on GPU or it doesn't make sense?

I know it is few FPS, but I consider them "free" FPS... I know it is stupid but I would be totally happy with 1250Mhz o/c (average), my friends o/c (he ordered from a different online vendour)...

I'm super happy with my new IB build (decent 4.5Ghz o/c on 3570k).... it is the missing 70Mhz from GPU whcih is sepearting me from being extremely happy....

I can possibly RMA the card, probably lose $20-$30 on shipping it back and then lose time to find another one in stock...

There are always chance the new one would be even worst, however call me stupid but at this moment I'm considering it.... thinking.gif

i cant believe how many people have no problem rma'ing something that isnt really defective. that's kind of dishonest. I sent the 7970 back told them its cuz i thought it sucked and paid the restocking fee, lol

My mistake. I thought these cards were faster since they're overclocked.

They had no problem with you doing that?

I don't think it's with it to send it back. Save the money for a future second card. I have my fan profile set up so it hits 100% when the card reaches 60C.

You can always do that. You just pay a 15% restocking fee at most places if it's not defective. 15% of $400 is a decent hit just to try again.
