Thanks for the advice. I had it turned on at one point but turned it off recently. I often game with headphones on, but not always, so I hadn't noticed the whine until a couple nights ago. I'll do some testing tonight when I get home. Normally I wouldn't care but my ears are so sensitive to high pitched electronic squeals.

fair enough. I actually just ordered a new asrock extreme4 z77 and an i5-3570k so hopefully this will solve a lot of issues. going to clean reinstall windows as well and hopefully this all goes away.

This might be my safest bet when looking at the range of current 670s. Only thing is I've had one bad experience with Gigabyte. I was using a Gigabyte Windforce GTX 560 and it had horrible coil whine, something that I found was common among many users.

Love some feedback from the Gigabyte 670GTX OC owners or any GTX670/680 owner infact

Using either MSI AB or EVGA Precision or GPU-z to monitor my Power % or TDP dosent go over 75% I can raise it to 111% but I don't need to ??

Also current clocks are

1311 Core or +135

3703 Mem or +700

Stock Volts

Have used Unique Batman BF3 3mark 11 & Vantage etc & All stable.

Reading the internets I see people doing alot lower numbers ???

Have I won some kind of golden silcon ticket (doubt it)

Anyway don't need to OC but its fun on this card Ohh and never goes over 62deg and fan hits 45%

Bit of a difference from 2 turbine 280's

Yeah power draw on this card doesn't even come close to 100%, let alone the 111% you can raise it to.

What you described is the pretty standard experience on the Gigabyte GTX670, although your clocks are better than average.

Here's my Gigabyte card. This is 4 loops of Heaven, and you can see Power peaks at 69%, Temp at 65c, and Fan Speed at 44%, where it is still basically inaudible over my case fans (it doesn't overtake my case fans until 50%). My core clock peaks at 1,262 though.

yeah it seems to clock OK I hit a max core temp of 135+ at 150+ the clocks step down to 2D clocks so that's its limit. I really wanted to crack 10k on 3dMark 11 but currently getting 9980 score on the GPU so that will do. I also ended up getting a max Power usage of 89%.

These really are a good card. temps are mental idles at 27deg full load hasn't gone over 62 deg with the metioned OC's

A new GB 670OC owner here. First post as well.

So lets start with the numbers. Using AB, but same results with Precision. Newwest drivers - 301.42. Asic 88%

My stock boost goes to 1124(from 980) so the boost is 144, which is way lower than what i read here.

The card is stable at +100 (1224). Using Heaven with extreme Tessellation, 4 AA. The driver crashes at +111.
On the memory side the card is stable at +300 but I think it can go higher.

Thats for now. Pics and stuff later.

Welcome to OCN, and thanks for sharing your results thumb.gif

Not sure what you mean by 'way lower than what I read here', but a 144MHz 'Kepler Boost' (as I call it) would be an awesome number. However, it's not a 144MHz Kepler Boost in your card's case, at least not based on the calcs we usually use here to calculate that value. It would actually be calculated as 1124-1059 = 65MHz, because the stock boost value on the GB 670 OC is 1059, not 980. See the first link in my signature for more info on this point.

Anyways, that value is of limited importance overall, and it can range from 0 to 236 depending on individual card ... what matters is the max boost OC you're able to get to. 1224MHz is not something to jump up and down about, but neither is it a disappointing value. We've seen many that OC to that range, and many that do even less, so ... probably that's just a tiny bit below average.
